Halo 3 is being weird.

Hey guys, My halo 3 is being gay.

This is stupid.

I have a freind over, and we want to play online together but on the same console.

So, I log into my Live name, and he selects guest. Then it says "Cant sign into Xbox live. Please use a profile that contains a proper membership."

Thats the stupid part. In halo 2, My freind can play online with me on the same console and we only need 1 Live account.

Now on halo 3, Its basically telling us we need 2 live accounts to play on the same console.

(I'm NOT talking about local playing. Im talking about playing against people across the world using Xbox Live Gold.)

In halo 2, To have a buddy play online with you on the same console all you need is 1 gamertag and 1 online pass.

Now, In halo 3, It seems you need 2 gamertags and 2 online passes.

Am I doing this wrong?

You can have 4 players on 1 Live account, on the same console; unless the rules have changed since about 7 last night. My friend was over and we were all playing on one live account.
May try asking on some Xbox 360/Halo 3 forums. Sorry I can be a huge help.

Oh, let me see if I can explain what we did.

Go To Live, sign in on your account. Matchmaking, then have him sign in as a guest, see if that works. Maybe just do it yourself with two controllers.

There should be an option for him to login as "(1)yourname" (something with a number). Like how you see some people that are "name", "(1)name", "(2)name", etc, thats what they're doing.

They sign in as "Guest" and it shows them as *Live account name here* [1]
Example... vskid [1] would be a guest.

When he signs in as guest, it gives us that error. My Xbox live works too. I was just playing.

I'd say just restart the Xbox, it usually fixes whatever is wrong.

I couldn't sign in to Xbox live the other day, kept saying it couldn't connect to the server. I just restarted it a few times and it was good to go.

We've done that. Gives me the same problem.

Wait, I'm usinga 48 hour trial. That gives me Xbox live SILVER with GOLD privilages.
