Is there any way to change the name with my profile? I watched my dog die today and it was not pleasant. I no longer want this name. I'll save the blogging for elsewhere, but it is not fun to lose a friend you grew up with. My best friend died earlier this year and now my dog is dead as well. I guess you understand.

It's alright if I have to create a new profile, but I would hate to lose what I've earned with this profile (mainly post counts and bit of seniority).

He doesn't really want to lose his post count. Also as he's been here since 05 he might became a "Senior Member" soon. If he changed his user that wouldn't happen.

He won't become a senior member any way since hes already a portablizer. I think it's that he doesn't want to lose his join date which often brings respect from new members and old ones too since if he were to make a new account name whatever respect he has earned as joedog86 would be forgotten

On a more serious note, I'm sorry to hear about your friend, and more recently your dog. While I've never had to deal with peers passing away, I've lost enough dogs and cats to know what that's like.

Believe me I know what your going through.

Last year we had to put our dog down. She was the same age as me, 14. It took me months to get over her since we grew up together and she was a big part of the family.

That is now the saddest thing I have ever heard ever. I'm lucky enough to not be that familiar with death at all. Two of my great aunts died last winter and my dog who was like 17 or something got put to sleep when I was 10 but that's it.

Ah, I know what you're going through. Over the 17 years of my life, I've had a dog run away, a dog that gave birth to a dead puppy, a dog that died of epilepsy (went into a seizure one morning, never came out), and a dog that died because he had an allergic reaction to a drug some effing retard vet gave him.

Story:

1. Dog had been having odd breathing problem.

2. Eventually took him to vet.

3. Vet listened to heartbeat and somehow, without out taking an X-ray like he was supposed to, came to the conclusion that dog had fluid on his lungs.

4. Vet estimated weight of dog, instead of weighing him like he was supposed to, and ended up giving him too much of whatever drug he gave him.

5. Vet scooted dog out of office because he was in a hurry to get home for the day, even though he should have kept dog there to make sure exactly what happened didn't happen.

6. Dog began having reaction to medication on way home.

7. We called vet, nobody answered; they had just closed.

8. We called other animal hospital, explained situation, they told us to bring him in ASAP.

9. Other animal hospital was too far away; dog died in car in brother's lap after bringing him back several times via CPR.

10. Vet confirmed death after upon arrival, took dog, cremated dog.

11. Brother and step father came home, of course, without dog...

The End of f***ing depressing story.


A week later, we saw on the news that this very same vet was under investigation... apparently, this isn't the first time this vet had done something stupid like this. We attempted to pursue a law suit against him, but that fell through I guess. The other animal hospital that we took him to the second time was shocked that the first vet didn't X-ray or weigh the dog, to see how much fluid, if any, was on his lungs, and to know how much medication to give him, respectively. This is the standard procedure, so we thought we had a case.

One of my dogs is 14 and has cancer among other things, so that's only a matter of time... another one of my current dogs is 15 and has a deteriorating nose. We have no idea what that's about, but it can't be good.

Alright, thank you bicostp. I'm still thinking about what I would like. It's hard to choose. I've been using that screen name for the past nine years or so.

Joe was 14, and I'm glad I got to be his friend for so long. We got him as a puppy when I was 7, so we basically grew up together. I keep thinking I hear him every few hours or so.

After my dog got put down i thought i could hear her walking around my house lazily like she use too. Her nails use to make this clicking noise when she walked i can still hear it all the time.

We cremated her and have her ash's in our house. My family just couldn't stand the thought of her not being home. We had to have her at home with her family, where she belongs.
