Fun Games with Joystick Support

Post by Ecksem Diem »

Not long ago, I picked up a copy of Falcon 4.0: Allied Force to match my very cool, new Saitek X52 HOTAS, only to find that flight simulators kind of suck (something I sort of already knew, but thought could be countered by some dedication to one). So, I was wondering if anyone knew of any solid games, preferably flying ones, with joystick support. I've heard that Crimsons Skies is worth something of a damn, though I don't really have any first-hand information on that. Also, does anybody know of anything cool with some good multiplayer support?

Thanks for any suggestions/recommendations.

Well, I did play that X-Wing game (and an expansion called B-Wing or something, although I've never heard of any "B-Wing" in Star Wars) for DOS awhile back, and I recall that it was pretty bad ass. There was also TIE Fighter, which I actually think was a really early Windows game, although I'm not sure if I ever played it or not.

I have! A B wing isn't shaped like a B though. It's like a cross.

The pictures are really really big (wallpaper size) so I'm not putting them here as an image.

The Wing Commander series is pretty good.

I seem to recall Wing Commander 4 winning the PC Gamer award for "Most Innovative Game" two years in a row in 1995 and 1996.

Though I'm probably remembering incorrectly.

They were in "Return of the Jedi", pretty much only shown when the rebels prepare to/jump to lightspeed on their way to Endor. I think they were planned to be in the movie more, but they were too thin, so you could barely see them head on.

These game might not have amazing graphics or multi-player. But their great fun. The games are Star Wars: The Battle Of Yavin and Star Wars: The Battle Of Endor . They both are fanmade 3D games writen in Truevision3D. And the games do have Joystick control option. The site where the games are: http://www.bruneras.com/
