The most reasonable question here is, what did you do and how much did you get caught with? :P

I'm not sure you can be legally kicked out if you're a minor. (What's the legal age in Canada? Here below you it's 18.) But seriously what the hell did you do?!

You should apply for as much government assistance as you can, and try your damndest to stay in school. (There's not a whole lot of jobs you can get in the future if you drop out.)

yeah.

dude seriously, that really sucks ass. my parents threaten to kick me out all the time for stupid ass reasons.

I'd apply everywhere and do as good as I could in school. seriously. DONT DROP OUT. and if you sell your games, sell them for as much as you can thats reasonable.

His story seems to be lacking some details. Parents don't kick their kids out of the house permanently simply because they came home late. Once.

But if that is the case, go to your parents and cry to them, not us. They're more likely to help clothe, feed, and shelter you than a few bytes of text can.

I looked into it, and the age of majority in Ontario is, not surprisingly, 18. Legally, your parents can't kick you out of the house. Once you've talked to them (do it again) and still have no results, call this number:

1 800 668 6868

It's kids help phone. I'm sure you've heard of it. They can helpyou better than the internet can.

Let's not forget the police. They could most definitely help you. The very least they can do is tell you what your parents can/ can not do.

However, unless you're home life is really unstable, I don't recommend anything but kids help phone and talking to your parents, because anything else may land one/all in jail, and then you'd have nowhere to go but a foster home.

Here's some links:

Neglect

The signs and indicators of abuse and neglect may include but are not limited to those that follow. It is important to realize that the presence of any one indicator is not conclusive proof that a child has been abused. In most instances, abused children will exhibit a number of behavioural and physical indicators.

Most caregivers do not intend to neglect their children. It usually results from ignorance about appropriate care for children or an ability to plan ahead.

Neglect occurs when a caregiver fails to provide basic needs such as adequate food, sleep, safety, supervision, clothing or medical treatment.

Man, that sucks terribly. :( If I were in your position, before I went for the welfare option (which is reasonable if you hit rock bottom, of course) is try to get a higher paying job. Apply everywhere you can, and see if you can get something out of it. Also, talk to your school counselors if you have any. Not only can they give good advice, but more importantly, they can offer you flexibility; we've got kids in your position at our school who have programs worked out where they only go to school for about half a day. The work would probably be harder since you'd have to make up credits as well as give up some weekends, chunks of vacations, etc., but you'd have more time to work. Lastly, I know it sounds kinda bad, but if there's any soup kitchens around, try eating there. Again, it sounds bad, yes, but it is free! :P

Also, as bic said, the legality of what your parents did is seriously questionable. Then again, it's probably not the best idea to be living in a hostile environment. Good luck, man.

1. Try to get un-kicked out. Beg your parents, whatever. If unsuccessful, see next step.

2. Go to the authorities, since, as bic said, its likely illegal, but make sure you have completely used any way possible in step 1, cause your parents will be really mad if you get them in trouble and all you had to do was apologize or whatever. If unsuccessful, see next step.

3. Try to find a relative to stay with, if you have any close by that'll take you in. They might be able to help you with your parents, too. If unsuccessful, see next step.

4. Try to stay at your friend's (or one of your other friend's) house. But don't be a freeloader unless they absolutely insist, offer them a rent or something. Whether or not you end up paying, don't cause them any trouble and try to help around the house and that as much as possible. If unsuccessful, see next step.

5. Get your own apartment, as you said. Make this a last resort, since in your current financial condition, you would barely survive. If unsuccessful, see next step.

6. Sit down, cry, and wish you weren't in this situation. If you get to this step, start from step 1 again and hope you have better luck this time around.

Wow quick responses. I added lots to my post above.

IT IS ILLEGAL.

1) Call up your parents
2) Call 1 800 668 6868.
3) Call police.

See my previous post.

Worst case scenario, if you do the following soon, is you end up in a foster home.

I'm pretty sure the government of Ontario says otherwise.

From the one site you showed me:

Can I decide where I want to live?

If you are 16 years of age or older, you can decide where you want to live. This may or may not involve your parents. If you are under 16, your parents can obtain a warrant from the police to have you returned home if you are living in a place that puts you in need of protection; in other words a place were you are at risk of physical, emotional or sexual abuse. The Children’s Aid Society can also take you into care and place you away from home.
