Microsoft Zune customer support!

Post by Adam G »

I'm not sure if anyone else here has a Zune or is anyone here has a Zune and has had technical problems...

If you have a problem, with anything, call Zune support.

1-877-GET-ZUNE
7 days a week!

Hours of operation (daily):
9:00 a.m. to 1:00 a.m. EST
6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. PST

Trust me, they are awesome.
On the 20th (Yesterday for me), I called to ask about my "Zune Premium Headphones", which, no longer worked. After about twenty minutes, they sent a new pair my way!
I called on the 21st (Today for me) and asked about my Zune, turns out it wont connect to my computer, my brothers computer or our family computer. I used my brothers sync cable, but it still didn't work. His Zune connected to all three, but not mine.
I called them up and after about 30 minutes, during which he asked me about things like ...
Did you try another computer?
Did you try another sync cable?
What happens?
Etc.
After we went over everything, he asked me about the condition of my Zune. "A minor scratch 2mm long on the bottom left hand corner, around the edge...screen has scuffs." It's in great condition.
He put me on hold for a few minutes and got all of the papers filled out, setting everything up for me.
A box is on the way, I just have to pop in my Zune and wait about two weeks for a new/repaired one.
I have to say, the Zune support seems to be one of the best I have worked with.

Monday, I'm going to call Logitech about my keyboard/mouse set (No support on the weekends), the mouse wont charge in the stand...so, wish me luck! :D

The morale of this story, don't worry, call customer support.

Not to start an Apple/Microsoft fanboy war, but Apple's tech support is pretty good too. If only they could send me new screen capacitors and a 1.4 MB Superdrive for my SE/30. (But it's older than most of you, so I can't say I blame them. :P)

(Turns out it didn't crap the bed; the PRAM battery was dead enough to confuse the motherboard. I pulled it out and my old machine lived once more! :D You old-time Mac users know what I'm talking about.)

The only tech support I really hate is Geek Squad / Firedog. They really don't know what they're talking about, and only got some basic orientation and training when they got the job. For example, at Best Buy, I asked them if they carried PDA keyboards. He said they did, and pointed me all the way across the store. I get there and they did indeed have keyboards, but I want to type, not make music. :P

I don't know... If it were me, and microsoft wanted to keep me as a customer, I'd insist that the box they're mailing come with a new zune and then I'd send them my old one back in it. A fair number of organizations handle exchanges that way.

I don't know why I've heard of so many microsoft hardware problems lately. Maybe it's because they've fixed many of their software issues over the last half decade and now people are running low on microsoft gripes.

Unless you HAVE TO call Compaq/HP support, don't!! Their idiots!! I have got the same guy twice. This guy when you read off you model number, serail number, email, ect.. . The way he make sure he got things right. He add miltary and his own call signs to the letter or number. If you have called Compaq/HP support and had a guy that sounds like this help you. shoot me a pm and we can swap stories about this guy.

EA game support is very nice.
