Board Revision Identification (for RGB modding)

Post by gannon »

I've been opening up some of my N64s that I have, and have found this much out so far.
Any n64 with a serial in the NS17xxxxxxx range and under has a RGB modable board inside :) The closest serial number above that I have is NS22xxxxxxx so I'll try that next :)

hey gannon, do you think an NS15XXXXXXX will be able to output RGB? I wonder how you can tell.....hmmmm...I should probably check out GameSX.....also, if you end up modding your N64 for RGB, tell us how it looks :)....
Without games my life would have no meaning.
Well, I guess it would, but it would be a lot less fun!!!!!!!

Yes it can :)
You can tell because the serial #s are linear with the order that they were made. My NS17xxxxxxx is RGB moddible, so any # lower than that is too :)

in that case, perhaps I'll mod my N64 for RGB output :).........(although I'd like to know if it's worth it, so hurry and do it first, gannon :P!!!!!!!!)

Yeah, I'm almost finished modding my n64 to put into the case once I build it, so killing it with a botched RGB mod would really suck :)
