OK sounds like Joedog has convinced me to go Stainless. So Stainless it is.

Why isn't the joystick on the left? That would be uncomfortable!

Well, with atari the joystick was somewhat more in the middle than the left, but the button was just on the right...

So, what kinda joystick are ye gonna use?

To play atari 2600/7800 games you hold the controller in your left hand with your thumb over the button and your right hand on the handle. This is reverse of what modern controls are and I want to mimic the Atari feel.

I am going to use a miniature 4-way directional switch which is essentially a mini 4-way Arcade stick.

Key word: Handle. Trust me, you will realize a thumbstick is nothing like a handle.

Well you don't have to wrap your hand around the handle. I personally like to rest my right thumb on top of the stick with the rest of the hand semi gripping the stick.

Trust me. I have done the testing and its a comfortable position. And the directional switch feels really close to an Atari Joystick.

I think he can put the joystick on the back if he wanted to. It's his portable!
