On all seriousness tho, amazing fake. Might be real tho. Most of the time there is more than one prototype. But I doubt it now.

The price has been dropped again and more pictures added.

I'm thinking that this is bit elaborate for a fake. There's quite a bit of detail, and the pictures are his own, one shot even with his username. The only thing out of place that is mentioned in this thread is minor, and it could be a different Zip disk. The one presented previously is reported to be a non-function prototype, and this is electrically functional, so differences could be due to that.

If anyone did email the head of Sega, it will likely be taken down if fake. However, I expect it to stay.

I did email the head of Sega US. Last night

Anyway, there's a power cord coming from inside of it, it really should be powered by the expansion port. Many other things too.

Both the 32X and the Sega CD had seperate power cords, and I can imagine that the ZIP drive uses quite some engergy

A: Thanks. No, there's no numbers. This was a pre-production unit, then the project was cancelled before it went to manufacturing.

A: Peripherals, such as game controllers marketed by 3rd party vendors.

^^-- Sounds pretty fake, as I don't think controller input would be able to be read threw the modem port. (Not sure about this tho, As i don't mess with the modem often.)

^^^-- There isn't a modem on it, so that was a retarded thing to say.

And the modem it shows isn't part of it, so he could have looked in about1 second to see.

sega would never willingly release thier only prototype to some random employee like this. they eitehr keep them or destroy them to keep from anyone taking the technology. if it is the legit one it would most likely have been stolen from sega.

I think you are all jumping to conclusions. It is likely that it will sell for somewhere around $1500-2000, possibly less. The immense cost with making a plastic one-off prototype would negate any profits the guy would make if this was a fake.

I know of at least one person who is planning on buying this. Until then, it's pointless to argue over something like this.
