What is the worst book you ever read?

The worst one I have ever read is The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle. I had to read it for summer reading in the 5th grade and absolutely hated it. So, please, share your worst book with us.

I really cant say because I hardly read. when I do though, its usually a really long book- like stephen kings "it" (awesome book BTW).

and that books by avi, right? I remember my librarian recommended that book in 6th grade, and I thought, aww god that sounds terrible

. I hate avi.

I guess that the only book i've willingly read and didnt like (and the only book i've willingly read and gave up on) was the book about anne frank. why? because it was terrible, and even though I feel bad for her, it was terrible.

I hate all books about poor black people being the victims of racism. Kinda makes me side with the white people (no offense, unless you get offended. Cause hate people who get offended by stuff like that)

When I was in 3rd grade, I had to read this book called Sable. Most. Retarded. Queer. Book. Ever.

Period.

I don't even remember much of it, just that I hated it. There was also a book that was something like Summer Reading is Killing Me that I greatly disliked, from 3rd grade again.

So... Are you saying that the poor black people in those books who are victims of discrimination are being whiny little b*tches about their situation, or do you just generally find yourself associating with the xenophobic White supremacist characters?

Anyway, I'd have to say that The Good Earth was pretty atrocious. It was well-written, but the story was just like... Ugh. If whoever wrote it was trying to make that main character (whatever his name was) an assh*le of Bender-like proportions, it was the greatest literary triumph of all-time. However, since she was actually trying to make the main character sympathetic, the book is total fail. That was basically the problem with Orson Scott Card's Xenocide (the second sequel to Ender's Game): it had a major subplot that was essentially starring the dick from The Good Earth (cum a daughter and sans a few sons and wives).

And yeah, with the exception of pretty much anything by Virginia Woolf, books about chicks just totally put me out, though I would guess that this phenomenon has more to do with my gender than it does with any inaptitude on the part of the author.

Though I didn't really feel any particular way about that chick who Halle Berry played in the TV movie, I thought that the book was alright until the absolutely moronic rabies-related ending.

"A Tree Grows in Brooklyn". The chapters bring you in halfway through a story and have nothing to do with each other.

I forget the title, but there's a book about an architect who comes up with new, modern designs or something, and his friend-turned-enemy betrays him... They made it into a black and white movie... Sorry, it's been a while, and I tried to forget about that one.

Commas, and... ellipsis, are fun...

Pretty much any book that I'm forced to read by my english class sucks. THey might be decent books but being told that you have to read something takes out all the enjoyment from it. Though I had to read 'A Raisin in the Sun' and that was just bad no matter how you look at it.
