Good news, everyone! I have replaced the battery cases with a 2600mAH recharable. Well, two. 3.7V each, from a broken portable DVD player I bought. With a built in security circuit and a status LED. I'm guessing they're Li-ions.

Okay, I ordered 3 new SNES of which at least one should have the newer motherboard, right? I'll also weight them before I open them and ask ebay-people about it's weight before buying them.

I also ordered two N64 cause it was from the same guy, shipping free and they were just 3 bucks each. I might make an N64p somewhen, but probably an atari and NESp first. We'll see. HOORAY!

Oh, and I bought a kilo of polyester resin, with which I'm probably gluing the case together. Anyone experienced with that stuff?

I'm seventeen, I have 3 years of school ahead of me, no other hobbies that cost any money, and don't spend a lot of money for clothes. I can gladly say that I can spend as much <filter>ing money on this, as I want.

2/3 arrived, both with the wrong board inside. I'm also going flea market shopping on saturday. Well anyway, I added a 50/60 Hz switch to one of the SNES' cause I was bored like that. Might do lockout mod later.

I've always liked the pal snes stock design. Too bad shipping would be killer for one to the states or I'd consider buying one of your extras if/when your project goes well

Note that american SNES' have different power connectors (same voltage) tho.

finally! Afer many, MANY wrong snes' and many many times "accidentaly" buying something else, I finally got one with a small MOBO. This means I can continue my doing!

Good to see project on track. I just noticed this thread so read it all. Any new updates, been several days since your last posting?

A good source for old consoles sometimes can be car boot sales; rather hit and miss, but sometimes you can get cheap bargains.

Pleased you are going to use perspex (plexiglass) on your project after seeing me using it. I like the stuff, it is rigid, strong and easy to work with. you can always reinforce the case with right angled triangles hot glued to the case and sides, and strips of perspex connecting the top to the bottom of the insides of the case, to give extra strength as needed.

Is there a different type of serial number or whatever to indicate whether the mobo is a small or larger one??

Yes, there is a serial number to indicate it, I'm not quite sure when they started using the small mobos, but everything over a certain number is big. You can also tell by the stickers on the back, because the newer models had different ones
