Well, it's one thing to miss some capitalization, but posts that look like they typed with their face is another.jedi knight wrote:Yeah the grammar nazis are starting to get on my nerves too. English is my first language and I have no trouble reading something with minor errors like that.
The only thing I really can't stand is when people mix up "their", "there", and "they're".
Their: Plural possessive. It's their turn now.
There: Location. I left it over there.
They're: Contraction for "they are". They're going to the store.
The occasional dropped period or tense mixup isn't that big a deal.

Agreed, but I also hate run-on sentences, poor spelling (Firefox has spell check! Even grammar nazis use it!), absence of commas, too many commas, poor tense use, and other homonym mixups (to, too, two) among other things. In my opinion there is no excuse for poor grammar.bicostp wrote:Well, it's one thing to miss some capitalization, but posts that look like they typed with their face is another.jedi knight wrote:Yeah the grammar nazis are starting to get on my nerves too. Agreed, unless you're in a grammar concentration camp!
No, wait... here comes the punchline... PUNCTUATION CAMP!!!!
And it's not the little slip-ups that bother me. It's the big ones.

That was pretty funny although I think the Grammar Nazi's are going to be after you for not putting a period at the very end.benol wrote:Agreed, unless you're in a grammar concentration camp!

Honestly benol, enough with the grammar stuff.
A lot of people here don't have English as a first language, and you are no spelling queen. All it does is piss people off because they have to scroll past you and your crap before reading the rest of the topic.
Even small stuff you pick out, and its not smart nor funny.

If you're going to spend so much time with this Grammar Nazi ordeal, make sure to practice what you preach. I really think that you should just stick to being a poster. No one likes to be criticized; especially when they're asking for help. Picking at their posts for little mistakes doesn't help anyone.
It was "cute" and funny when you came out with the whole Grmmar Nazi image, but I think you should put it to rest now. I don't think anyone is cut out for that job except for someone with an English major. End of discussion.
Besides, you're not taking the Grammar Nazi image in an "appropriate" direction exactly. I'm sure some people are getting offended by these kinds of posts referring to the Holocaust.
Ok now, back to that phone!
