Pico power supply? You mean a picoPSU?

What exactly happened when you tried to start the PC? For that matter, how did you try to start the PC?

Most modern power supplies are turned on when a connection in the motherboard connector is bridged- the switch on the back is just a hard disconnect for maintanance. A quick searched turned up this guide.

Yep. A regular power supply causes this baby to boot right up. I don't think the PicoPSU will let me do that much of a draw on the floppy connector. I'm currently looking into other forms of power right now.

I'm currently looking at this but I want to do a little more research before I drop any more money into this project. I'm getting dangerously close to $1,000 with very little to actually show for it.

Edit:
Oh and I'm using CF because once I layout the hard drive I'm never changing it.

Have you thought of using the GameCube's PSU?

Just to ask, do you have the old motherboard? I'd buy it if it still works.

As far as I know it still works. But you'll have to do a lot of rigging to get everything you may want to work.... It doesn't have a cable for USB and I'm not sure what else(I have a cable for keyboard and mouse. VGA is built in as well as LAN). I can test it later today and get back to you. I REALLY need USB in order for mine to get by.

No I haven't at all. I'm going to look into it today. Oi gonna be a busy busy day.

On another note. I tried rigging together an old external hard drive case(Which would have been almost perfect because it ran off of 12 volts. I would've just needed a new battery.)

Great... so the makeshift power supply that I tried using a caddy case from a USB on my old mother board boots it up. Fricken :(
