Good web host?

Post by So Many Kinds of Bagels »

I'm about to sign up to get hosting/domain at Dreamhost.com. It looks pretty nice. I'm just wondering, before I do this, is there another site that several of you have had good experiences with?

I'm pretty sure they just give cheap domains.

Godaddy.com is one of the best web hosting places on the 'web' (ironic isn't it).

A friend uses dreamhost. Apparently it's good.

Also, make sure to sign up with an invitation code, you can save up to 110$

I have had great success with Servage (www.servage.net)

For $42 you get 6 months of hosting with 200GB space and 3 terabytes bandwidth, also the usual php and mysql goodies.

Host Gator is quite good, and cheap.

Code: Select all

http://hostgator.com/
If you intend to use Host Gator, use some coupons.

Code: Select all

Precision Media is good too and this gives advertising opportunity for a friend.

Code: Select all

http://www.precision-media.net/
Also, I've never personally tried Nearly Free Speech, but it looks promising, take a look!

Code: Select all

Hope this helps,

So many choices :(. I can't decide HostGator, Dreamhost, or neither? (If neither, it better be good.)

I have dreamhost, I like it a lot. Especially if you don't care much about installing software on the server, they have "one-click-installs" for wordpress, phpbb, and a few other open source deals. I highly recommend.

EDIT: Let me know if you're signing up with dreamhost, I can get you a referral discount (I got $30 off 1 year of basic hosting from this). PM Me.

I'm about to sign up for http://hostmonster.com myself.

they look better on paper than a lot of the other offers. Does anybody here have any experience with them?

300 GB and 3,000GB transfer /month? Looks like a pretty good deal. Make sure to read the fine print, though... :?
