Is their any cheap video recoders that can conect to the computer and output composite video?

First, check your video card to see if it has an S-Video jack. If it does then you don't need one!

(We have a couple old Toshiba laptops that even have composite jacks.) When you're searching, try entering "pc-tv" instead of "recoder"; you might get more hits.

<a href="http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications ... 27">Here's a fancy one on Tiger Direct</a>. It supports up to 1600x1200 and can connect through Composite (ICK!), Component video, S-Video, or RGB, and can output NTSC or PAL.

I have an old one called an "L-TV portable". It only supports S-video and composite at VGA resolution (aka useless for everything but videos). You can probably find one on eBay if that's all you need.

And as always, if you have something better you can use besides Composite, use it! Composite sucks.

Sorry for the misunder standing.

Sut i ment a device like a usb memory stick with a composte output.
So that i can tranfer the vidoe file to it and then when i press a button it will play the video trought the video output.

So you want a standalone box you can put videos on to play them on your TV? There's a few around, but they'll most likely cost more than $100. Why not use a PC-TV box and cut out the middleman?

It sounds like you want a media player that you can connect to your PC and has composite output. That means you want a video ipod or a creative vision (I believe they have composite out) or a similar device.

Is for a project.
Its a folder with a psone screen and im looking for something to store the videos on and power off batterys so i can wacht videos in school.

Why not just buy an iPod video or a Creative Vision then, it'll be cheaper and smaller.

For a stand-alone project like that... hmm... yeah, unfortunately an iPod Video or something like that would be your best bet (I hate iPods so much...).

If you wanted to stream video from your PC (like I originally thought you were asking... after I found out that you weren't simply looking for a way to display your PC through composite...

), something like this would be your best bet.

Edit: Hmm... now that I think about it though... this might still work. You could stream to it wirelessly from a laptop or something.

The MVP is very small... but all the hacking in the world probably still wouldn't allow it to fit in a folder... how big is your folder, anyway?

Edit 2: Huh... check this out. The mobo is pretty small... and can be very flat with some modding. It also runs on only 6 volts... it seems to have a 5V LDO regulator inside. My idea may sound crazy, but it might just be possible!

Edit 3: Um... there also appears to be a wireless version.

It's getting more and more perfect!

Edit 4: Wow... so they DO have small, affordable, 100% standalone media players.

You can probably forget everything I said about the MediaMVP.

This seems much more like what you're looking for.

Edit 5: This one... this one right here. That's the one you want. VERY small, cheap, SD card capability, and buttons on the top (no need for a remote). Imagine how small it could be if it was hacked down to where it only supports SD cards! Most of the space in that thing must be for the HDD. It's totally perfect!!!

Everything on that site is pretty cheap... must be a direct from China type of thing.
