Don't you love the curb?

Post by daguuy »

While I was test driving my new car (mazda 626) to diagnose the worn out left drive axel, I saw and picked up this beautiful piece of sh*t! (sorry mods, substitute words just wouldn't sound right)

I too have found my fair share of goodies on the curb. However I would never pick up a chair considering someone could have beaten their meat while sitting on it.

I beat everyone at dumpster treasures. This is all from one place in two days:
two decent fishing rods
two crap skateboards
Phillips record player with tape deck plus cd deck thing + remote
2 phillips speakers

The record player sounds amazing btw and works flawlessly with out any work being done.

Trash picker :P The only things I see around here are old cabinets and sofas that have been left out in the rain. (Someone was trashing a console TV one time...)

You should take it apart, clean the frame, and make new cushions. (You never know what people do with their furniture. *shudders*)

As long as you're willing to wade through a sea of little old ladies you can get the supplies pretty easily at craft stores. Making new covers for the seat and back is easy; just use a knife to take apart the seams and use the old material as a template.

As for your worn out drive axle, are you sure it's not just the wheel bearings?

When front wheel axles go bad it is very easy to recognize. Whenever you turn you will hear loud clicking until you straighten your wheels out.

I keep breaking my chairs. In fact, I was forbidden to take any more chairs, so right now I'm sitting on a really small desk that used to contain all kinds of junk I use in bed...

edit: Okay that came out wrong.
I mean like, books, and a laptop...

I found a late 90's Camaro front clip on the side of the road one time. A day before our city wide trash day we have here. I also found and grabbed a Lemon Coke sign. In about 20 years that sign will be worth $$$$$.

Found a working Pentium-clone computer on the side of the road once, complete with 5.25 floppy. I put in an ancient hard drive- 3.5 form factor, but easily 2 inches thick/tall- and viola!

Don't remember where the thing is anymore :?

My friend grabbed a big screen tv out of the garbage. He gets three channels on it; the Red channel, the Green channel, and the Blue channel.

I found a dreamcast kiosk too, never had space for it in my house so I kept it in a shed. According to my dad it is now filled with spiderwebs and is all rusty :(
