IE opens everything. Even viruses Microsoft has been aware of for YEARS.

Anyone used Microsoft word 2007? It's HELL. I switched back to 2003.

IE7 has addressed many of the faults you mentioned. It loads maybe just a hair slower than Firefox for me and it most definitely does not open everything anymore. It blocks popups by default as well. I'm sure anyone who has used it will attest to that.

I haven't noticed any useless graphics in IE that burn memory, but maybe they're there and I haven't noticed. What do I know... If they're there they don't bother me at least.

I've never gotten a virus in all the years I've been using IE now. Damn near a decade now I reckon.

Getting a virus via a web browser anymore is as attributable to user error or naievete as anything else.

That said, I can appreciate that you enjoy using Firefox and that's great. If you don't have a reason to change why do so?

You don't want to change from Firefox for the same reason I don't want to change from IE...

The browser of our choosing does everything it needs to in our respective situations. There's not really much more you can ask of a browser than that.

Except for at work of course.

I guess that is one of the reasons I never got into Firefox. From what I've heard in the past and what I'm hearing today most of the good functionality you get out of Firefox comes from these add-ons and extensions.

I prefer just having what I need right out of the gate. I'm lazy like that. It's kind of like buying a car. Sure I could add a nice stereo later on, but why not buy it that way from the factory and have it under warranty and included in the first place. Again, I'm lazy.

I deal with this crap for a living so the last thing I want to do is to have to tinker with something like a web browser in my free time.

Perhaps I'm not dedicated to my craft as much as I should be.

Hmmm... My screen looks to be the same size as your FF one with IE7.

I don't have the section with File, Edit, View, etc. on mine. Maybe I turned that off at some point.

All I have is the address line with the search box and then the tab bar. Nice and clean. Gives me a lot of real estate to work with.

Note that you didn't have a tab open, but IE7's tab bar is too huge and doesn't go away. Office 2003 and macfox (I have all the navigation stuff, address bar, and menus on one row with my bookmarks under that) are good looking, small themes that don't abuse the eyes (the "shift" themes are painful). I like the customization abilities of FF, I can put my buttons where I want them, get themes, and have extensions that can do everything but clean my room. I use NoScript and AdBlock Plus, no ads. Ever (unless I allow the site and the ads are from their site, then it depends).

I stopped IE7 from installing on my computer, so I still have IE6. Yes tabs are nice, but only when implemented in a logical way, I must use my middle clicker of death on tabs, and the middle clicker of life to open links in a new tab. Though I must admit, FF is a resource monster, not a good thing for my computer, but its better than having 10 windows of IE6 open.

I'm going to a new high school this year (its literally new, just opened, thats why I went to a different one last year), and I really hope portable FF works on their computers, but I don't have any computer classes, so it'll be hard to find out.

But the tab bar is ALWAYS on in IE7. Kind of annoying if you ask me.

For some reason, the tab bar is always on in Firefox at school

(they finally installed it on all the computers; took them long enough...).
