As you can see i am new here i started looking at all the crazy things you guys have been doing here and i got interested so i went to radio shack to walk around for no reason whatsoever and i found a vg pocket max which i had heard about so i figured at 15 dollars its not bad for me to play around with so i bought it and played it for a bit then i made my account here took it appart and took some pictures now this is really pointless and simple i think anyway but to start off i want to put a led inside there just above the d-pad and power it from the batteries but im not sure even how do to this or what led i should get.
Ok so picture time sorry for the bad quality crappy webcam.

Now im assuming its just a matter of power to the led and since the red and black wires coming from the back are connected to the batteries i just need to split those wires or put the led in the right spot on the board i just have no idea where that would be. :/
Also does anyone know any tricks or mods for the vg pocket max besides the debug mode thing?
BTW the vg pocket max is the 75 game one.

Yes but since those wires are already soldered onto the main board of the vg pocket to give it power how to i connect more wires from that so i can have two more wires to goto the led another thing what kind of wire would i need for this?

One way; you can split the wires in two, connect a wire to one end, and connect the other end of the split wire back together like so:

The other way is that you can follow where the wires are soldered on the board and solder wires onto there directly.

Or you could also just solder them from the battery holders.

With a project this small I wouldn't say that wire really matters. Any thinnish wire that you can find (remember, you have to stuff it back into the case).

Yes, that's perfect. Just be sure to have a wire stripper on hand.

By the way, I recommend going on www.tinyurl.com to shorten the length of links like that. It adds a second scroll bar.

EDIT: I just remembered, you're probably going to want to have a switch to turn the LED on/off (as to not waste batteries).

You can buy an SPDT switch at any Radio Shack and most electronics stores.

First of all, LEDs barely take any power. So you shouldnt need a switch (unless you only want it on at certain times.

And second, you will need a resistor for the LED

Yes, but why would you want it to be on all the time? It just seems like a waste (and possible eyesore).

I can't believe I forgot the resistor. From looking at your first picture, it looks like the thing runs off of 4 AA batteries. Assuming you use a red LED, you should connect a 1k resistor.

When you buy the LED you will notice one leg is shorter than the other. The longer is + and the shorter is -. I believe you connect the resister to the negative lead and then to battery ground, then the positive to one leg of the SPDT switch, and the other leg to battery positive.

Correct me if I'm wrong
