I'm down with Dreamcast. Not too many were completed successfully, or at all. But we got lots of heads to put together now.

If you can do shipping to Canada, I'll be happy to do wiring/soldering. I have good equipment (adjustable temp iron with an ultra fine tip).

Great to have you aboard. 1st order of business is trying to figure out what portable people want to make. Some have expressed interest in a dreamcast, but I've got to hear back from a couple more people.

Sorry I've been gone for a few days on a Order of the Arrow event. My expernice level is somewhat low. I got Ben's book as a refrence. Im trying to make a portable but im needing a screen to make it. A screen is the only thing holding me back from making it. I also bulit a working one-handed Sega Genesis controler I called the GMOTE. So yes i have some experince. I also got a lots of spare time unlike some people here.

I happen to share a love of gaming and modding systems; I don't care how old people are, as long as they are intelligent. think about my idea for a Psone, SNES portable, even if you use the FCtwin (keep the NOAC if you want, even better

) th thing wouldn't be too big

also, why not consider a GBA with a video trans coder, that can be added to just about anything

You know, since I saw this thread, I thought this was typical of my Father's logic - get someone else to do the work, "supervise", someone else to come up with the ideas and problem solve, and take the credit and get the end result with minimal effort! Think about it, he is looking to pay a few bucks an hour plus shipping (and what happens if the post loses it?); gets a system for cheap, everyone else runs about getting it working, for pocket money? ha, ha!

Clever! (or perhaps I am a bit skeptical with age!)

Trust me, Jeff is hardly the noob. He's knowledgeable of electronics and in our case, portablization. Don't be a complete smeghead.

Well, I had similar thoughts at first, but then I realised that this is hardly the case. I mean he is willing to pay for shipping from like 5 people to each other and then to him. Then the parts on top, and the risk of losing everything. I highly doubt he's gonna get away any cheaper than just buying a done system from one of the members.

Firstly, let me state that I should not be expected of better behavior just due to the fact I can lock topics. Perhaps it's not my misunderstanding that is as blatant as your creation of a misunderstanding reply? I apologize for any aforementioned and overused misunderstanding, though. Maybe what I was trying to prove is that Jeff is hardly "taking the credit," especially because he created a thread that has been bound to be read.

I'm still suggesting a Dreamcast laptop, shouldn't be too hard, and I can see how beautiful it will be already. I'm not too focused on the Dreamcast hacking scene; is there anything we can do to make it act more as a laptop? Perhaps hack the BIOS/firmware? (might not be legal, not worth it

)

If a Dreamcast or similar project is done, can we please have the project fully illustrated and blogged, with step-by-step guides? This is especially important for when other people get handed their parts of a project as they can assist in troubleshooting where required and offering support and assistance. This will also help anyone wanting to make their own system for themselves too. (That's why I am doing so in my project).
