Why not Mobile-ITX? The entire motherboard crams a 1ghz C7 Via processor with 256 or 512 mb of memory into the footprint of a business card. Granted, it will probably be very expensive but it's tiny! It looks like it's almost as fast as the nano ITX boards. Normally I'm not crazy about the small form factor boards like Shuttle PCs and micro-itx but this actually isn't a waste of money! (Those boards are meant for desktops where you should just use a real motherboard but mobile-itx could make the PCp in a Gameboy a reality... perhaps. Too abd we have to wait for them to be released.)

Could you tell me what 1g ram card I could buy for my mini itx? It is DDR2, but there are two types on CompUSA.com so I don't know which to buy.

NO! BAD! Don't order from CompUSA, they inflate the price on everything. (Why do you think they closed more than half their stores?

As long as it's the right type of memory (DDR2), and at least the right speed for the motherboard (memory that's faster than your motherboard should work fine), brand doesn't matter.

Here's some Ultra PC5400 memory from Tiger Direct, only $44.

EDIT: Better than that, here's a 1024 MB module that's otherwise identical to the CompUSA memory (same make, speed, type, etc.) that's still $8 cheaper even without the rebate!

Thanks! I had just been using CompUSA for a rough estimate. Could you tell me a good disk drive? I just want to burn cds and video (don't know if I need dvd for this). I would like it to be small, external, fast, and nice looking (USB2.0 doesn't hurt either).

You have two choices I can think of off hand for the optical (CD/DVD) drive:

The Plextor PX-608CU:

Pros:

- Burns and reads basically everything except next-gen formats

- Entirely bus powered

- Very small

Cons:

- Very, very expensive 160 USD and up

(There is a similar model by Freecom, but I can't find any place selling it or good info on it)
