Got Me a New 360 Baby

Post by Twisted Warthog »

Well with my saved up money i bought a Xbox 360 again.

This is my second one, i didn't have one for whole a year since it broke down. Now I'm being more precautions by putting fans all around it and playing it only in short periods.

Mass Effect and Bioshock were just too good to pass up. :D When i trade in my PS2 and all of its accessories I'm going to have about $150. What do you guys think i should buy for my 360?

Add my Gamertag if you want its Demon Dingo. I know.

Dude. I play my 360 for like 10 hours at a time. Nothing happens. No need to be scared. Remember every 360 owner just got a free 3 year warranty.... So yea. Also, do NOT put fans near the fans that are in the 360. They are ment to push air out, not in. (Same reason not to by a nyko cooler.)

Are the fans on the back or the top and bottom? I have a fan on the back, will that do anything?

Fans are at Top, Bottom, and the side. Is your 360 standing up? If so, slap your self in the face, and lay it down. 360's should NEVER be stood up.

You seriously dont know? Your making me laugh man.

..... :D

Standing the 360 up, is not its prop prosition. Its NOT meant to be stood up. IF you stand it up, you will get scratch rings around all or most of your games. I know that for a fact, as Micrsoft has told me, the owner of a game store who repairs 360 games has told me, and I've seen my freinds 360 do it when he stood it up.

Heck, I think I even read not to stand it up in the manual. :S

So yea, dont stand it up or you're disks will stratch. May take a while to become noticable, but I Promise you. It will happen. If you dont belive me, try it or phone Microsoft.

God my friends don`t listen to me when I tell them to put it on its side, I tell them and it goes in one ear and out the other.

Even when they move their 360s around and put it down on the carpet standing up, I tell them they will be more likly to get the rrod, but they act like it will never happen to them, all 4 people I know with 360s stand them up-right.

Don't you worry all the 360s i have had are on their sides. I know what happens when you put them stood up.

Sooo it would be O.K to put a fan behind it? It kinda makes the 360 cooler for me.

And why hasn't anybody from here added me yet?

I could see someone's point of having their 360 stand on their entertainment center because of lack of space or something, but on carpet thats just stupid. The someone runs by or something and could knock it over. So you give your 360 two ways to die by doing one stupid thing.

Well, if Microsoft intended it to be on its side, then why is the power button sideways?

I ran mine on it's side for awhile with no issues. It's normal now due to space (height) issues.

The manual doesn't say not to run it on it's side. It says not to change the console's orientation while it's running. If I'm wrong, someone please show me.

However, I do think Ben mentioned a ventilation advantage by keeping it flat, rather than on it's side.

I had mine standing on end from May of '06 until February of '07 with no issues to speak of. No overheating and no scratched discs.

The only reason I've had it laid flat since February is because I no longer have room to leave it standing since I got my new TV. Still no overheating and no scratched discs.

So from my experience it doesn't matter which way you have it setup. It is designed to be used in either configuration.

Well jones, I kinda think when the company who makes the console tells you NOT to have the 360 standing up when playing, its wise to listen to them.

Like I phoned and the representative said "Do not play your 360, while it is in the upright or standing up position as the Xbox 360's game tray was not ment to be at that angle. Which probably will cause ring scratches on the games."

Exact quote.

That's stupid cause they show it standing up all the time. Demo units press conferences.
