For the most part yes. Your case would be different however. In my SNESp I can possible fit a normal SNES board but the newer SNES uses less amps to power so in general it is much better for a portable.

I recommend reading as much as you can off the site, and then really making sure you're ready to undertake such a project or not. Then ask specific questions/use the search thingy.
Also just a social suggestion for forums. Don't do READZOMG!!! kind of things. The orignal snes board is bigger but definitly works for portables. Also I believe the amp draw isn't dramaticly much more. Especially if you don't have the apu unit. (some do some don't )
