You'll need at least a 7.2v battery, custom ciruit for power and the connecter from the AC adapter.
Now what you need to get is a power regulator that will dropt the power down to 3.3 volts. Or you can buy two 7805 regulators and two 3 Ohm resisters and wire those together in parallel that will give you your power circuit just plug the 7.2 volt batery into it. You'll need to also wire the outputs nad grounds to the connecter form the AC adapter.
This should make it run on battteries no problem,

seriously though, if you want to use electromaster64's idea, you could probably get away with only a cheaper 40 watt converter.......as for batteries.....well, Sparkfist basically summed it up nicely
