Xbox 360: Please Help.

Post by v3ndetta »

I have made a plan and I can get about $450 in December. I want to save it up to spend it on a 360 but I don't really know why lol 8) . I don't know if I should though. I just got a DS Lite with a R4 and I still have a Wii that I hardly play, but I really want a 360 to play Gears of War, Halo 3 and heaps of other games.
Can anyone tell me what the best things you can do with a 360 and what some good games are? I'm looking for something to convince me to buy one.

Spend the cash on a 8800gts, then emulate the 360. Honeslt, consoles are overrated, fps controlles suck.

I didn't know you could emulate it. Still, it would run with lag wouldn't it?

As far as I'm aware, you can't emulate the 360. This would be especially difficult as it uses PowerPC-based processors, not x86. Felino is just a PC fanboy.
Anyway, I think there are a lot of great games coming out for the 360 this fall (plus the ones already on the market). While they're not all 360 exclusives, enough of them are to make it a good choice if you like playing games. Over the next few months I'm looking forward to Halo 3, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Guitar Hero 3, and Rock Band for the 360. I'm sure I'm missing some good ones coming out, but those are what have me interested.

And now, if you don't mind, I'll move this to the proper forum.

Um, no. They're going back up to $599 (80GB) once the $499 (60GB) is sold out. They are by no means lowering the price anytime soon (even though they certainly should).

Hey, I say get a 360. You can get a core with 1 controller, and all the hook ups for like around $200 on ebay. (used ofcourse).

I bought one from ebay, and it works good. There was problems at first, but not anymore. And now, Microsoft game a free 3 year warranty to everyone who owns a 360, so even better. IF it breaks down, you get it fixed for free!

No. PC gaming is a financial black hole and you're always playing catch-up. Besides you can't emulate the 360.

Get a 360; you seem interested in a lot of its games.

Lame.

Now back to the topic at hand.

As far as whether or not to buy a 360 there are so many reasons to buy one it is hard to know where to begin.

A large number of great titles already available. (Oblivion, Lost Planet, Viva Pinata, Dead Rising, Gears of War, Forza Motorsport 2, Graw 1 and 2, Rainbow Six Vegas, Lego Star Wars 2, etc.)

Xbox Live - If you like online gaming then this should be a huge factor in your decision. Friends lists, chat, video chat, downloadable movie rentals, etc. There's so much more, but I'll split out the significant ones below.

Downloadable Game Demos - For me this was huge. It is great to be able to "try before you buy" so to speak. Something PC gamers have benefitted from for years and now the console world gets to enjoy this benefit as well.

Xbox Live Arcade - A wide variety of downloadable games. Everything from Lumines to the original TMNT arcade game can be found here. Plus there are a bunch of original games such as Heavy Weapon and Outpost Kaloki X available to buy. All games have been enhanced to have online multiplayer as well. The games typically range between 5 and 10 dollars. The arcade has turned out to be one of the pleasant surprises of the Xbox 360 experience.

Achievements - They sound silly at first, but once you get a 360 and hear that unlock sound a few times you become strangely addicted. At least that was the case for me. It's always fun to check out your friends list and see what achievements others have locked. This has been a huge deal for the 360 although they never expected it to be anything more than a blip on the radar at launch.

HD DVD - If you have an interest in this you can always choose to buy the add-on player later on. Or if you don't want it then don't get it. The choice is yours!

Great Games Coming Out This Fall - You already mentioned your interest in Halo 3. In addition to that there will also be Blue Dragon, Bioshock, Mass Effect, PGR 4, Half Life 2: Orange Box, Guitar Hero 3, Rock Band, Call of Duty 4, etc. It's going to be an expensive few months coming up!

And now there's just one thing left to do...

GET IN THERE!!!

Bic, PC's will be pinnacle gaming platform and you won't have to upgrade constantly. What's with all of the pc hate these days?
Any who, I currently own a pretty decent pc for gaming. I plan on getting a 360 when the get to 65nm processors. Especially since I've had a 65nm processor for about 9 months now.

Get a 360 man. Plus since they'll be $350 (unless you get the elite), then you can get some games!
