Well, since I'm PC only for the time being (saving for the 360), I can most definitely say that the games coming out this holiday season will be epic.
Bioshock, The Orange Box, Crysis, Hellgate: London, Gears of Wars, World in Conflict, and Age of Conan (the new one). As well as Unreal Tournament 3 when it comes out, it'll be epic (no pun intended).
Not a fan of the almighty FPS genre, and I feel isolated

I have to agree with you. why? because I used to love halo and halflife and counter strike and all of that stuff. but now I dont, in fact the only modern FPS I like is gears of war and thats because of the style, graphics, and it has a nice storyline.
now back in the day there were far more interesting FPS games. Quake, doom, hexen, heretic, and wolfenstein all have a great storyline, and are pretty good quality. in there time those were good graphics, and they still are pretty cool.

I'll only play an FPS when with several friends, and that's still rare. I strongly dislike the genre.
RPGs are where its at, currently occupied by FFX, Rogue Galaxy, and Pokemon Diamond.

I think the reason that you, and me, don't really like first person shooters, but do like Red Steel (Okay, I didn't love it, but it didn't stink as much as people say) is because of the controls. I HATE using a joystick to aim a gun. I can't even play games like Halo or Battlefront. Sure, they look fun, but whoever I play with uses a console with a joystick, and they're way better then me.
I found that I really like using a mouse. I play Tribes 2 with my friend sometimes using my computer and my mom's (In the same room and connected by the network) and it's insanely fun. It's like a multiplayer game in a sense that there are two people physically in the same room playing the same game, but it uses a mouse and keyboard, and it's way easier. Plus, he can't see my screen and I can't see his. (My big fat MAME is in the way. Someday, I'll install Tribes 2 on it and put the MAME on the network. 3 players!!)
