and my personal favorite part of this entire thing http://www.ice.gov/pi/news/multimedia/archive/index.htm they try to stop piracy by pirating images WTF! also notice their mad mspaint skills on those watermarked images!

I saw that, comment #14 on HAD is me. Why do they target these devices that can be used for pirating like everyone that has one is a murderer? They could have used it to install xbox linux or similar. If you follow the logic of cracking down on anything that can be used for illegal purposes, theres not really anything that would be left, pencils can be used to stab, shirts to strangle, computers to steal identities, and etc.

Once you leave the US you will discover what a craphole the rest of the world can really be.
Sure, it has its problems but it is still the best place to be overall in the world.

After being in a country where bribes are daily business, it made me realize that the government here actually works.

No there would be nothing left. Food, drink, toys, computers, camreas, cellphones, Land line phone and phone cord, all household aplinces( including the dishwasher and the fridge), everthing else in around the house including the kitchen sink. All becase they can do somthing ilegal.
Besides, Who hates the video game industry that bad in congress? And whos the stupid idiot that said anything(that means everything) that can cause a crime need to be ilegal to own.

Im almost sure that this was all started by Bill. Bill has money. Politicians like all people, like money, Therefore when Bill says something like "hey mr. important goverment guy ill give you lots of stock if you do X" (X being a way for bill to make more money) mr. important government guy says "I like money i think i will do that" and then gets a bunch of new laws passed and gets himself and bill more money.
Everything works out and everybody is happy except for the people that all these new laws made in the quest for money affect. These people are rather pissed off because bill and mr. important goverment guy dont give a flying copulate about anything besides themselves and money. So what should we do to stop this? There is nothing we can do.

I think we have about 100 years before we end up with a The Giver type of world. That or Idiocracy im not sure yet

It's like the USA but without some of the negatives! (Mind you, we all have our flaws). Apparently we're very polite. America Junior, as Homer puts it.

No offense to anybody in America, but my girlfriend just came back from 2 weeks of Florida, and she said that she did actually notice how many fat people are down there, even though she went in thinking she wouldn't notice. Canada is, apparently, less fast food oriented, more polite, and has far less guns. The cops and Toronto are the only people with guns!

Here Here! I completely agree with you the only exception is Canada. When I lived in America I always wanted out but now living in spain has shown me how foolish I was.

Oh waah.

They're cracking down on modchips, so what? While they do have some legitimate uses (homebrew and Linux), their primary function is to bypass copy protection. No matter how you look at it, most are intended for piracy. (On the other hand, they've always been illegal; that never seemed to stop them before.)

Besides, there's more important things to worry about in the news than this. (Bridge safety and Bush keeping Congress in session until they approve a modification to the wiretapping act, to name two.)

Modchips are illegal? I thought they had always prevented them from becoming illegal by saying homebrew. Has anyone ever met someone with a modchip who used it solely for homebrew and no piracy at all?

This is exactly why if I had the chance I'd punch fat-Bill Clinton in the face for putting DMCA through in '98. That bastard pushed fair-use to the side for corporations. Basically making the FBI and other government agencies the bullies for Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo.

Hate to come across as a complete jerk, but if I was in the situation where they asked me (no warrant) for items like mod-chips, my computers and other things of the like I'd say, "Come back with a warrant signed by a judge!" It's stupid the crap they're taking now-a-days.

You know, that's a good point how can they legally do this? If I even let the FBI through my door I wouldn't let them go near my xbox with a screwdriver with or without a warrant. Well hooray for spains lack of copyright infringement laws!
