New OS ftw ( not, please help )

Post by gamemasterAS »

Well I am on a Dell Dimension 4500s and I installed Tiny XP Platinum edition 2. It was working great until I tried to run games, the problem is whenever I play any game the game randomly minimizes itself. The games this is happening on are the only 2 I tried UT2004 and Halo Combat Evolved.

Thanks

Why don't you just run a real copy of XP instead of some chopped up illegal hack? :?

Because the chopped up illegal hack is faster.

Oh that's right. It sure can not-run his games like greased lightning! Speed is irrelevant if it doesn't do what you want.

Tiny XP is probably missing something you need. Install a real copy of XP and if you're really concerned about speed run Windows Classic mode, disable Windows Messenger, don't run AIM, run Firefox, etc. XP runs fine, I mean come on people it came out 6 years ago, when very early Pentium 4s were new! (Most people probably had Pentium 3s and 2s.)

If you insist on running a gimped system, at least try reinstalling DirectX.

Come on. I run Windows XP on a 300mhz laptop with 192mb ram, and it runs great.

Cut out the illegal "crap" and you might discover it works. Remember: the usual speed-hogs are stupid programs that put icons down in the taskbar and run all the time (eg quicktime, realplayer, aim, etc)

Well this is much faster

I found out it was just the dumb Folding@Home running that was making it do that because I exited it and now all my games run fantastic.
