get a Go-cart. there relatively cheap, and around here there not legal but there arent many cops. thats what I have.

Walking takes forever though, I can ride down my street in like 30secs but walking takes like 2-3 most likely more.

My street is pretty long though.

I just hate ridding bikes.

ok easy way to get around

bicycle+ chainsaw= about 40mph on 2 wheels

don't know if that sort of thing is illegal where you are but it is pretty easy to build and gets you places fast

Anyway, you can get an electric front wheel. I've seen them before, and I kinda want one for myself...

Sounds interesting, the chain is replaced with a blade-less one, right? Otherwise crashes could get messy. I'm assuming gas mileage is pretty poor, since a chainsaw screaming at full rpm's isn't exactly fuel efficient. I wonder what kind of restrictions there are on such mutations.

actually we used to do it a lot, its real easy to change the sproket in a chainsaw for one like a bicycle, you have to make sure that it is on the right side tho cause this one guy put one on backwards one time and could only go in reverse, a person would have to build a way to mount the saw on the bike so a welder helps. I always mounted mine over the back wheel then build an extension for the throttle that goes up to the handle bars. the gas milage is pretty good if you get a good gear ratio on the sprokets, a larger sproket on the saw and a smaller sproket on the wheel gets you lots of speed with very little gas used, however there is no torque, so you may need to figure out whethetr you want speed or power and get the gearing right. we used to use chainsaws to power lots of things, bicycles, go-carts, push scooters (not the little silver ones, the ones with like the 6 in wheels) using a multi-speed casset doesn't work too well as the chainsaw moves at too high a speed to safely change the gears but someone may be able to figure it out.

That chainsaw thing looks pretty sweet, I gotta try that sometime. The only problem with chainsaw motors though is that they're usually 2-stroke which means they're very inefficient and make a rediculously huge amount of exhaust and burn lots of oil. If you could do that with a 4-stroke motor, you'd waste less gas and get rid of that nasty blue exhaust.

Get a motor scooter - legal and fun and safe! I know its not quite as cool, but I love mine, which I modified w/ extra batteries and a new motor. It goes up to 30 and gets about 10 hours a charge.

Maybe theres a four stroke chainsaw or similar thing out there.
For changing gears, it shouldn't be much different than normal. Just let off the throttle, chain stops moving, bike keeps moving and you change gears and slowly give it throttle until the gears change.

If I can find a cheap chainsaw (hard part), I should be able to find a cheap bike to do this to. I think I've figured out a way to make it so you can pedal or use the chainsaw by swapping the chain (tell the cops its just an engine I'm taking somewhere

Cheap bikes are easy to find. Me and my Dad found two bikes at a thrift store, one for $3 and $8. They were in good shape too.

The only cheap chainsaw you can get(if your good at fixing small engines) is to get a fixer up'er. Trust me I know what im talking about. I realy good friends with my really small local Jack Of All Trades. This guy some time get fixer up'er chainsaws from: trade in for labor, given to him, or he gets it for dirt cheap. You also need to understand that all chainsaws are 2 strokes. Meaning whan you gas the chainsaw up. You have to mix the oil and gas togeather. You can get little bottles of oil that is pre-mesured amount to add to certern amount of gas. Well that all I got to say. Need any more info. Just ask and I'll see if i can help you .

My dad is a mechanic (well, thats what he went to school for, he's a service manager for a diesel engine company now), over the 16 years of my life I have absorbed quite a bit about cars and engines. So I'm not completely helpless, and (no offense) I'd much rather ask him for help than you because he is older and has more experience.
I think you are right about it having to be a fixer-upper to be cheap, I checked an online classified and even ones in not so great of shape were kinda pricey (to me at least).
