best thing to use for a fan grill/cover

I need something to use as a fan guard for my xbox laptop. I have a piece of breadboard the same size as the fan, but i fear the holes will not allow enough airflow. The fan is 40 mm. I would cut my own holes, but then they would most likely look bad.

If you got a old computer lieing around that you have no use for. Just cut fan vent off of it.

Metal screen (the kind with all the little holes, not the video display) sounds good. But if you need help with something as easy as that, I wish you good luck on finishing the 360 laptop

You might be able to find a 40mm fan grill, but that size isn't widely used as a case fan. You can always make a frame out of a wire hanger and glue some window screening to it.

Most normal PC fans are twice the size of the one he wants to cover.

Better to have one thats too big than too small.

With window screen, theres different sizes, I think one with bigger holes would suit you better.

When do you expect to have this Xbox laptop done?

I think it will be done with in a week... I HOPE.. I have a big chunk of it done like taking apart the xbox, cutting the case, mounting peices, Now i am testing my bondo, spray painting skills before getting too carried away. Next i will try to make the monitor work with the xbox. I had my friend help me on this and we got it to display the first welcome type screen with the microsoft logo and that green blob, but then from there it stopped displaying. After i fix this problem all i have to do is order a keyboard for it and assemble/bondo/paint the case and its all good.

I have a 40mm fan gard here, and a fan. Boxed, does that increase the value? =)
