Need some help with the PSOne screen...

If you're making a portable you probably need something to watch it on. (Unless you want to guess what's happening in the game, but I wouldn't advise that) Anyway, this forum is your "Hacking a pocket TV/screen" one-stop solution. Share your experiences and knowledge here.

Need some help with the PSOne screen...

Post by Metal Mario »

Well, I am making an N64p, I am using a PSOne Screen, and I set up the audio and video using this as a guide:

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/sho ... hp?t=34554

I just bought the Camcorder cable and RCA to RCA connector, hooked it up and tried it on both my Wii and N64, but there was no picture and no audio. Is this a deffective screen? I think it was dropped before, but there is no visible damage...

Thanks for any help.

I've had the same problem with using a camcorder cable on a portable screen. What's wrong is, not all screens/cables have the same pinouts. Try switching your wires around till you get something to work. If that don't fix it then I don't know what the problem could be.
Meh, I don't post much.

You can't make much of a portable by using such thick wiring, you need to hook up wires directly to the contacts, as per the stickies in this section for the PSone screen. Also, the cable in the pic is only composite, if your N64 or Wii system are NTSC, you can output RGB which is far better quality potentially.

Assuming you are making an N64p you need to strip everything apart to make it small!

Well, turns out that the screen was disfuntional, and I got another one. This one actually turned on, but then the picture didn't come on the screen! What do I do?

Jedi Knight, thanks so much!! I got it to work, and played Wii and N64 on the little PSOne Screen all night! :D

And, Bacteria, thanks for the advice, I'll look into doing some of that. :)
