xbox laptop case

Yes it is nice to be able to put your projects INSIDE something isn't it? You know, to hold everything together so it doesn't flop around? Discuss the techniques here!

xbox laptop case

Post by specter539 »

I think this is the right place for this because im just asking a simple question, but if not please move it to the right place. I just finished cutting the acrylic for the xbox and saw how cool it looked being able to see all the guts. The only problem is I will need to use some bondo to fix up some gaps (or something similiar that would dry clear) My question is, should i leave the case clear or paint it black or green? I think it would be really cool to have a see through case, but the bondo would make it look bad. I could use hot clue to fix some gaps if i really wanted to i guess. Ill get some pictures on here soon.

Yes it should go to Case Construction, however, to add my opinion to the question in hand, if you start adding clear this and clear that to a clear piece of plastic, it will look obvious, and quite tacky. Clear plastic will be streaky in places and slightly duller or more opaque in other places. You also probably won't be that interested in seeing the "guts" after a while, and it could prove distracting during gameplay. It is probably better to just spray paint it.

Ive thought of another thing. What should i do to be able to remove the top. Ive got the bottom peice and 4 side peices and was just going to superglue the top on (the top with the keyboard) but then i thought that i might have to open it up again for one reason or another. What would be a good method for making a removable top?

ive test painted the plastic with rustoleum professional high performance enamel. (Glossy Black) and it looks pretty good. I did this with out sanding down the smooth acrylic surface and it looks good right now. I might do some wetsanding to give it that perfect look though. What are your guys' opinions about that rustoleum paint? i hear krylon fusion is like 100 times better.
