not again....amiga problems

1. USB 2.0 ports
2. new cpu
3. graphics upgrade
4. a homemade kick start rom (to boot Q-dos or linux)
5. more room for other crud

...and me drinkin' coke doesn't help ( im allregic to caffiene it makes me sick). now th :sick: never mind

wait, I didn't know usb 2.0 ports were an option on amiga. They came out in 2001, even windows xp released without support for it.
am I missing something?

Well, the CPU upgrade/replacement issue is easy; they all used Motorola 680X0 series processors, which meant [to an extent] you could literally take one processor out and replace it with another. Since older Macs used M680X0 processors for their CPU, you could buy an old LC series computer and rip out its 030 (not sure if the 040 was SMT or pin-mount) and simply drop it in the Amiga. The 680X0 are all interchangeable on the level of functionality, but the later models were mostly surface-mount and therefore [almost] impossible to use on a pin-mount board (without some fancy soldering).

As for the USB 2.0 thing... I'm willing to wager large sums of money that no USB peripherals exist for the Amiga, or that if they do, they aren't anything really useful (just rare and therefore valuable trinkets). I say go for a Video Toaster setup or a SupraDrive; costly, yet fun little toys.

all of your questions depend highly on what amiga you have, your the one with the 600 right? more info and i might be able to help, just FYI upgrades for amiga are REALLY expensive, some cpu upgrades run north of 700$

um.. as none of you seem to know, i can write amiga drivers, also i succeed in over-clocking the processor yesterday.(man that was HARD without a bios)
oh no my amiga wont turn on must be that i fried the processor.

I imagine it must be pretty hard to do anything with a computer that's missing a BIOS. Maybe that's why it won't start up...?

um duh, this is the amiga600 we are talkin' about, it had no bios,
IBM did the bios,like IBM pc1.0.it doesn't have a bios, the amiga 1000(i know this is ridiculous, but the 1000 was the first, 500 was 2, Ibm was 3 and amiga600 was 4)had a floppy disk,amiga kickstart rom was the closest thing to a bios commadore ever had(before they were bombed by IBM) but atari
miraculously escaped that raid.
