While looking for a screen for my SNES laptop, I came across this:

Am I right in assuming that because it has composite video input that it will work for such a purpose? Also, the specs say that it is around 5 inches thick. How much of that is likely to be empty space or something easily taken out?

As a final question, if I were to LED mod a 10" screen such as this, how many LEDs should I use?

You CAN use this screen. It will use lots of power and you won't gain much in ways of SNES visibility. I'm using a 5" screen and would have liked to go around 4".

5" thick seems very thick. Although I wouldn't be surprised if this thing was up to 2" thick, I doubt it would be more. As for circuit boards, the inside may be poorly made and have extraneous circuit boards and wires in a tangled mess that pops out 5".

To me, however, it looks like it's 5" thick to make the back rounded like a baseball. You can cut 3/4" off the front and about 2" off the back before it looks like you'll hit guts. It could be thinner though. It could also be thicker.

Use as many LEDs as you feel you need. Although you may not be saving much power if you're lighting a 10" screen with them.

Thanks! I would go smaller, but this was the only LCD I could find with a good price (other than the PSOne screens). Another is that I wanted a screen that wouldn't be dwarfed by the size of the laptop case.

The battery I'm planning on using is an 8.4 Volt 4200 mAh RC Car battery pack. I can get two of them for ~$55. If I do get two, could I hook them up together to get more power or charge out of them?
