recently at an auction i had the fortune to acquire a fairly nice looking Silvertone tube radio of early 30s vintage (i believe) unfortunately it got rained on and the veneer was slightly damaged but i will get to repairing that in the future. the radio portion itself has seen better days, missing most all of the tubes etc but in looking at it i was struck with an idea. i said "why not take the amplifier circuit from those old computer speakers and hide it inside the radio!" so i took about half an hour of my time and wired this little amp board inside the radio, from the outside it is 100% hidden, the only thing that gives it away is the power plug jack visible on the back of the radio and the input cord coming out as well. it uses the original power switch for power and the original volume knob for volume as well! all that is left to do is wire up the bulbs to the power switch so it lights up! it is 100% reversible to boot!, i did not modify or remove anything from the radio that wasnt already missing! now for the pictures! i call it an ipod dock for lack of a better word, i DO use my cheap ipod with it but anything that outputs to standard headphone jack works!
