Desoldering Help

I am trying to mod a Gamecube and I was wondering if knows how to remove the bottom ports on the cube. I have tried desoldering them, but I just can't get the solder to melt...anyone have any suggestions?

Get Ben to do it for you? I dunno, I think you just... I never did any saudering.

Use a higher wattage iron?

Oh and KillGood, it's spelled "soldering", not saudering

I'm using 30 Watts! I am wary of just taking pliers and snapping them off because I don't want to damage the PCB. The solder is VERY precise on those little pieces, I have a hard enough time placing my iron in there.

Any other ideas?

i used pliers to remove em from mine and a dremel too! dremel the shielding where it attaches to the board CAREFULLY then bust em off with pliers

I don't have a dremel! What else can I do?

Use flux!!!

I'm really surprised no one has suggested that, Turbo Tax would have been screaming it as soon as he saw the word "desoldering".

why not add more solder and then desolder it. This should help.

flux is some gooey crap that helps solder stick to your iron. I think you can also use lemon juice as flux.

Yeah, that is the truth. Were is Turbo anyway. He still post every now and then but thats not good enough.

I snapped them off and now the cube won't work! What have I done!?
