why is zune so bad?

Having used a zune and working (for the next few weeks, anyways) in close vicinity to the owner of one:
-Sturdy as hell
-Not clunky, have you guys ever held one?
-Buttons can be held(and have a large single-letter on the right telling you where you are in your collection)
-Relatively light
-Can't say I care about sound quality
-Any questions? bashes?

i dont care either way for ipod or zune, i bought my 40gb 4th gen ipod (non color etc) on ebay for 55 shipped. it works decently and thats all i care about. it needs work tho (new battery, hdd reseated and stuff) if i couldnt have got it so cheap i wouldnt have bought one at all

Any who, I was recently given a 4g 20GB iPod black and white. I use iTunes 6 because I'd have to delete all of my music to get it to work on 7 (thanks Apple eff- them). I want a Zune because it's large screen, brown color (maybe I like *bad word*...) and it's resistant to most scratchings. My iPod has had a decent $40 case and is still scratched up. That's just bull. Mine only plays audio and it's very good at it's job and is better than a 5g's audio quality.

All in all I'd say go with a Zen V M or a W. They're really, really awesome players for fairly acceptable rates.

More durable and scratch-resistant case
Larger screen

btw the Zune also has TV out according to one post. I don't own either...FM radio all the way. Free ftw.

As the owner of a Zune I can say that it most definatly does have video out does it the same way the ipod does too, through the headphone port, now just like ipod the factory acc. for that is kinda pricy but I picked up a 3rd party one the other day for 10 bucks that works great, the only thing i can see lacking for the zune is 3rd party support, IMO the Zune is just a better player, I have had ipods before and they always crap out after about a year (ok so I am a heavy user)(elJobo even said that they want people buying a new one every year) the Zune has had no bumps so far, is robust and strong, even feels stronger, and I will say this in closing, all you have to do to scroll is hold the direction you want to go, and it goes.

Quick question for everyone who says that iPods aren't sturdy: What the hell did you guys do with your iPods? I had a mini for a years and a half, after which I gave it to my dad, who has had it for 9 months, and it's still in excellent condition, even after being dropped onto asphalt/concrete a couple times. Same thing with my new iPod, which I got 9 months ago. I used both of them heavily carrying them around, putting them in backpacks with other things bouncing around with them, etc. No problems. So please, tell me what you guys do differently that causes your iPods to last for only a year.

hard drives aren't very sturdy on ipods, the slightest little bump can cause them to be corrupt

Well, first of all, have you ever heard of faulty equipment?

My iPod has been fine but it's just scratched up. The metal will scratch even if you breathe on it.

Guys I've used a small FM radio and those things have a hard time getting a good signal on local station. The whole idea of having an FM receiver built-in isn't a big selling point. I might feel that way because the only thing I'd use the radio for is to listen to Rush, and he's on the AM band and I listen only if I remember.

If someone can confirm the Zune has TV-out, great for it.

I personally like my iPods. My Video iPod works great for videos when I feel the desire, and I can backup all my music on the thing, and yeah I know you can do the same with the Zune.

Again if you're looking to have the MP3 player be the center of your music entertainment, iPod is the choice. There are more accessories, namely the iHome and such that allow you to enjoy your music better. And many of these things have batteries so you don't have to worry about the iPod dying in a few hours.

I will say this if you're looking to go running around with your MP3 plaer, get a flash based one. That can be anything like the iPod Nano, Shuffle, Zen, ect. because really the physical size compared to the storage capacity is what's important there.

What are you smokin'? To get your stuff from itunes just tell Zune Software to check USER's Documents/USER's Music/iTunes/iTunes Music
and it will upload all of your iTunes music and then you sync it to your Zune. I've done it so i can listen to the good songs that my sister already has on her iPod.

Plus it's not bulky and you can listen to any music or watch any videos on it as long as you simply convert them! Why do you think it's ugly? Just because it isn't made out of scratch welcoming, greasy metal doesn't mean it's ugly. I mean come on it has an opaque white/brown/black shell!!! Car battery of MP3 players?! That's just rediculous!

And to anyone who thinks the click wheel is better than the D-pad, why would you want to rub your finger around in circles instead of simply pressing in the right direction?

I've heard plenty of complaints about the Zune, but quite frankly, I don't think it's that bad. It's a nice little player, and if your friend is selling it for $125, then I'd say go for it. If you had the option between a Zune or a Creative player, I'd say Creative, the Zen video-playing devices are awesome.

But have you ever considered anything else? Uxcell makes a very solid player for ridiculously cheap, and though the storage is only 2-8 gigs, you can always use SD cards with such devices for extended use. And the money you'll save on the player itself is probably worth it. Oh, and the Meizu M6 deserves an honorable mention as well.

Can anyone confirm that these are decent players? My brother was wanting a PSP mostly for playing music and videos, but if these are of good quality, they cost about as much as a similarly sized memory stick and would be much better (and smaller).

Yes, they're good.

I've bought about 5 of them for gifts, and everyone loves them. Just recently I got the Black Hawk for my cousin, and for music, movies, and e-books, there's simply nothing better for the price. The games are a nice touch too, and even though it only runs NES games and with a bit of lag at that, it's still nice to have them around when you get bored.
