Gameon Universal USB converter

Post by Jongamer »

I just picked one of these up from Wal-mart for $10

It works as a usb hub (only 2 usb sockets though), and you can connect Gamecube, Ps2/Ps1, xbox to it to use on your computer.
If you dont have a computer controller converter, and cant order online I recommend this.

Not supported by many Emulators (Project64 works, no rumble though even though the device says rumble supported)
(Virtualnes and ZSNES work with certain gamepads)
(Visualboy works fine)
(I know the wireless Madcatz controllers dont work on it though.)

And so far the madcatz wireless controller doesnt work on it, have no clue about wavebird.

I saw it but I think I'll stick to my Xbox to USB Adapter, which I made for Free.

I dont really see a point in getting this unless you dont know how to solder...
I have made a PS controller to parallel port adapter. Boo-Ya :P

I also made my xbox hipgear screenpad controller a usb adapter, but couldnt get the drivers to work. :(

Oh and I made a SNES to Parallel port controller too (First project FTW  )

Hey... that was my first project too. :) I later upgraded the 2-player version I made of it to a 4-player version (basically just the addition of two more extension cable halfs) so the anime club I'm in could play 4-player Bomberman. :D People were pretty impressed with that... not to mention the fact that I was running an SNES game of the college computer... and also that I'm in high-school. Heh... we used the interface quite a bit during the "Classic Grand Prix" portion of a tournament we held... I destroyed everyone in Bomberman and ended up coming in second in the whole Grand Prix... only because my older brother ranked first. Classic gaming FTW! :P

Haha, I did the Snes to parallel port and the Xbox to usb as well. (You don't even need to know how to solder to do the xbox to usb, although I did so the rumble motors wouldn't shake the wiring loose  )
But here's an idea.
http://www.raphnet.net/electronique/gc_ ... dex_en.php
This guy built his own USB adapter for the N64 controllers, and added support for the Gamecube controllers too, since they use similar protocol and share the same voltage. Just imagine, it could be possible to add N64 controller support to this hub's GC controller port with a little bit of wiring! This would be a MUCH cheaper solution for those of us who want to use their N64 controllers on their PCs, (mostly for PJ64) rather than buy a bunch of crap to do this mod using CRAPPY drivers that don't WORK with the latest DirectX!!! http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/80
Jongamer, what settings did you use to set up rumble on PJ64? Are you using the latest version of PJ64 as well as using the N-Rage plug-in that came with it? Rumble should work if the adapter supports it, heck, I get plenty of rumble from my USB rigged Xbox controller when I play PJ64 using it.

EDIT: Boy do I feel stupid  . Even as little of Controllers as I understand, I should have known better than this, no wonder nobody commented on this. I mean c'mon, the N64 controllers have more buttons ,less axes and connector prongs than an GC controller. Even though they had similar protocol, I think some third party company would have cashed in on a simple N64 to GC adapter if it was that simple. 'Sorry for being a moron guys.
