Simpsons Movie for Springfield, Vermont... MY STATE!!!

I don't know if anyone heard about Springfield's all around the US competing to host the premiere of the Simpson's Movie. Somehow, our ity-bity Vermont WON! I don't know how, or why, but I'm psyched! Are there any Springfield's around you guys?

PS: I haven't been here in a while, anyone miss me?

I live near (sorta) Springfield, IL. And I used to live near Springfield, MA. And I want to see The Simpsons Movie. Now.

I disagree. It has definitely declined in quality, but I've seen some episodes from season 18, and it had some genuine laugh-out-loud moments. It is not nearly as good as say season 4, of course, but it's still good. Hopefully, they'll not screw up the movie and make it more like the old Simpsons rather than the new Simpsons. It'll still be funny either way though, and I'd go see it if everyone said it sucked.

You might call me a Simpsons fan.

Springfield Ohio should have won, Its less than an hour drive from where I live.

And the movie also comes out on my B-day, YAY!!!!

I don't see how the movie could be good, and the Simpsons has not had the consistency it once had, but the recent seasons have their moments.

As an example, there was an excellent episode a couple of seasons back where they split the school by gender. It's probably one of my top ten favorite episodes ever.

But yeah, most of the recent episodes haven't been as good.

They've all been better than season one, though. I guess they were just figuring things out then, and Matt Groening was in more control of everything, but those episodes just weren't very good.

Because even if it were the worst film in the world everyone would still go see it. Just incase, or even with the slightest hope that it might not be

A few of my friends made an opening weekend bet for this movie. Perhaps you'd all like to play along? Here's our picks, closest to actual 3 day weekend gross wins!

Dale - $60 million
Dave - $45 million
Me - $30 million

Personally I don't care and won't go see it. I, and a lot of people, stopped watching about 10 years ago, ironically about the same time creative consultant Brad Bird left the show to make "Iron Giant" and then of course went to Pixar.

I mean honestly, does the average person remember much past the Bill Clinton / Bob Dole episode? ("What is this, some kind of a tube?")

Plus since the heyday of the Simpson's we've had several other "it" cartoons come and go: Beavis and Butthead, whose movie didn't do all that great, South Park, again, no "Lion King" numbers, and now we're on Family Guy which is basically crap but for some reason if it's on, I'll watch it. Point being, Simpsons is old news.

I don't find the trailer very funny at all, other than the line "That is me".

I heard some people say it won't make more than 10 million. And me being a big Simpsons fan I'll go see it the day it opens but i have to agree the show did lose that special something after the first couple of seasons.

Closest is Springfield, MA; and that's not exactly down the street.
