1.44 Floppy Disk Drive onto Megadrive
I have a spare floppy disk drive lying around the house and thought it will be cool to put roms on a disk, and make an interface for connecting the floppy drive to the megadrive, and load the games off disks, this will be great for programming, so I can test my games on the real hardware.

Having a rom that can be erased or a cable that goes form your computer to the Mega Drive would be much better. The 3 1/2" disk drives are really slow you'd have terrable loading time and maybe lag.

Anyway I'm still gonna do this
It sounds really cool and will be nice to get a taste of loading times and amigality on my Megadrive
I wonder if I could port over A500 games.... like Superfrog (i think thats OCS)
Maybe i'll do a cartridge to IDE interface, which plugs into the Megadrive cartridge port, and that plugs into a floppy disk drive, that would be cool, its a bit like my VMU adaptor for Megadrive which I also making (which i've done a bit of research on)

I dont think its possible to make it read or spin faster. Keep in mind two things one is that you want to work on a piece of technology that is about 2 decades old, the other thing is that load time is why Nintedo stuck with carts for the N64. Carts are like USB thumb drives you can access the info faster as its right there no searching.Unidentified Assilant wrote:What if I overclocked the floppy disk drive... i'm sure its possible.
I know its not the most optimistic thing to say, its just the most realistic.
