I think all these kinds of games are stupid. Seriously, get a real Guitar. Guitar Hero is nothing like playing a real Guitar anyway, just pressing buttons. Use those "Pressing Buttons skillz" to frag people you silly gooses :P

Using that argument one could say join the Army and frag people for real, rather than wasting your time doing it in cyberspace.

I don't have the patience to learn how to play a guitar for real anyway. I thought Guitar Hero looked kind of odd as well, but then I tried it out and thought it was actually pretty cool. It's one of those things where people come over, see the guitar controller sitting there, and ask if they can try it. Then they have a blast. Plus, you can play it on whatever difficulty you want. A real guitar is the same difficulty all the time, plus it would just collect dust in the corner. In my case anyway.

Rock Band does sound interesting, but the $200 price tag for the game and peripherals seems pretty steep. Ben and I have been talking about going in on it together. That's probably the only way I would take the plunge on the whole package.

PS - Glad I managed to sneak cyberspace in there. A term that doesn't get used nearly enough anymore. :)

I'm trying to learn real guitar and it's not too bad. Just acoustic though, electric is too expensive for me.

Jones: I know that Guitar Hero's fun and all but my neighbor who just got better than me from borrowing it for 2 weeks now gloats about him being better than me. I just don't think that it's something to gloat about. I can do most of the songs on hard and a few on expert. But come on, "oh you can hit buttons better than I can, good for you". I just don't think that it's very productive.

I want my money back for it now. It's a fun game and all, but I never play it now that I beat it.

I would definitely agree that it is silly of your neighbor to gloat about it. In fact that's almost comical. :)

You should try selling it on Ebay, or heck(pun intended) see if Ben would want to buy it from you. He likes playing it when he's at my place anyway. You won't get all of your money back, but I'm sure you could get a decent chunk of it by selling it.

GH is an odd game for me. There will be times when I'm sitting around and I think of Hangar 18 or Freebird (for whatever reason) and I end up popping the game in and playing it for an hour so. It's a fun game just to chill out with and it's a good stress reliever for me too. :)

Yes I know it can be fun to play and I do on occasion. But its just the whole "I could be doing something better with my time" kind of vibe. So I go and play on my backpacker guitar.

According to NGamer (British Nintendo magazine), Rock Band is coming to Wii after all. They had a short info box in their latest issue in their forthcoming games section. Anyone heard this from anywhere else? Also, I agree with Harshboy, playing Guitar Hero is nothing like playing a real guitar. But both are fun for different reasons.

I play my guitar every day for 3 hours
Plus the longer you play it for the easier it gets. You got served!

That is the worst logic I've ever seen. Jones even said 'in my case anyway.' If you have the time to dedicate three hours a day learning to play guitar, great for you. People like Jones and I, with lives and jobs (and in my case classes too) simply would rather do other things with our downtime than learn how to play. No one of us is saying it's not worth it to learn how to play guitar or anything like that. It's just that for a lot of people, it's a whole lot more fun to pick up a guitar-like controller and play a game stylized after playing guitar for a few hours than to put the time into the real thing. That's all.

So can we please drop the subject and go back to Rock Band?

On a related music-game note, GH2 80's expansion-thingy comes out the 17th.
Shhh! I'm not officially back yet.
