The time machine in Timeline (I'm going off the book, haven't seen the movie) is pretty much capable of teleportation, isn't it? It could mess you up pretty bad if it screwed up, just take that 3 eyed cat for example. It also did the misalignment thing after multiple uses so your insides got all screwed up.

Like Lt. Barkley said in Star Trek:TNG. Its a very precise technology. Little room for error. One atom out of place, you dont come back the same.

When put together, you end up with a process that requires an original copy every time. Quantum entanglement allows scientists to get around the uncertainty principle mentioned above. When two particals are entangled, they exactly mimmic each other. One measurement can be made on the first, and the next on the second.

You end up with A: the original copy, B: the entangled particles, and C: the unstructured matter on the other end of the teleporter. One measurement is taken from A- which dissallows any further measurements of A because of the uncertainty principle. However B is entangled and therefore exactly mimicking A, so the second measurement is taken from B. Through tunneling the state of A (as recorded from both A and B) is transmitted to C, which takes up that quantum state.

Current teleportation technology =/= replication technology. Even if it were so, replication would not allow you to replicate fuel infinitely (inefficiency will always be present)
We have to remember that these teleportations consist of small clusters of atoms. In fact, the it was only 6-9 months ago that the first macro-atomic teleportation was successfully completed, before that they had only been able to transport (clusters of) subatomic particles.

The process need not be different. You are merely teleporting the quantum states of all the quantum particles in an atom, or group of atoms, instead of one or two quantum particles. This is nothing more than a simple progression of the technology. One of the articles mentioned a new potential method of teleportation not involving the methods I mentioned before, but I haven't seen anything come of this.

Then again, I'm not an expert in this field. No, apparently my strongest skills involve the distribution of propaganda
