Whats so great about Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Includes but not limited to: SNES, Genesis, Sega CD, PlayStation 1, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Game Gear and I guess the Virtual Boy.

Seriously? OOT was AMAZING! I'm too lazy to write a paragraph so I'm making a list.

- Z-Targeting (I refuse to use the c-stick in Wind Waker)
- 3+8 = 11 dungeons (MASSIVE game!)
- Hundreds of side quests
- Fully imersive storyline/gameplay
- Amazing musical score
- Large, expansive environments to explore
- Huge collection of different, interesting weapons/items
- Amazing boss battles

The game was just amazing - anyone who says otherwise, in my opinion, has...

- Not played it
- Not given it a chance
- Not allowed themselves to transition from the old style of zelda games (Top down)
- A vengeful wrath towards Nintendo
- Poor taste in videogames
- Dislikes the Adventure (Action-RPG) genre of videogames

I don't care if you call me a fanboy, but I have yet to see a true Zelda game (CD-i doesn't count, and yes I liked Zelda 2) that I didn't like.

- Juice 8)

PS: Although I can see why OOT is considered the champ, I actually like MM's gameplay better (Masks are fun!). But it's flaw is the fact that it is so short, compared to OOT (About 1/2 as long). There's also the less-epic storyline arguement, but to me, doing different things just makes it better. But oh well. For me, I'd rank their overall ratings at about equal.

I found SM64 to be a lot more boring than the original 2D Marios. Its a great game and all i just think The Legend Of Zelda graced the 3D era better than the plumber.

That's just me though, I'm a total retro junkie.

You might give "Minish Cap" a try for GBA - it's great!

Loved Minish Cap, even if it was WAY to short.

Oh well.

Okay, I, for one, am an OOT fanboy... yes, I'm one of them... sorry. :P It might not be my favorite game ever... but it's in my top 3.

I think the MAIN reason a lot of people liked OOT so much is the same reason many people say Final Fantasy 7 is the best Final Fantasy to date; it was the first 3D game of the series, and completely blew the previous games out of the water in terms of graphics, sound, and gameplay. They were the biggest "step-ups," know what I mean?

Agreed, I'm still waiting for it to come to the Wii VC...unless I get that modchip and erm, "Obtain it" - By "it" i mean the Collectors Disk of course.

I heard somewhere that Majora's Mask is going on the virtual console sometime next year.

Ha Ha, I played it through the same amount of times! I actually beat it one time in one solid block of 6 hours or so

And to answer your question Nonsense Man... There is only a need for 3 words to describe OoT:

1.) It

2.) Is

3.) AWESOME.

Actually, I have! :P It's a really fun game, my friend brought it back from China for me a few years ago (cheap pirate GBA carts FTW!) and I was addicted for about a month until I beat the whole thing. Hopefully the 2D Zelda gameplay lives on, but with handhelds getting more powerful, and Phantom Hourglass for the DS being yet another 3D adventure, I'm not so sure...

I have both of the promotional discs for Gamecube(master quest and the one with Majora), both of the games on N64, and Ocarina on the VC. If Majora does come out on the VC i don't mind shelling out $10 for it. :D

I think that many people liked the game because it revolutionized the Legend of Zelda series. I personally like the game because it was the first Legend of Zelda game I could beat(when I was what, 5 or 6... :P ) Majora's Mask was a bit harder, in a sense because of the 3 day limit thing and not being able to save everywhere, etc. But, I did manage to beat the game, and get the Fierce Deity mask! (which pwns)

This game is my #1 for most of these reasons listed, plus some of my own:

The game was long. It wasn't too long that you stopped playing it because it never ended, but it was still long. This gave the player time to get to know the characters as they popped up again and again throughout the game. This is where MM failed; there wasn't enough time to begin loving any characters. The game ended after 4 dungeons. Not only that, the game was TIMED. (kind of)

The soundtrack. You can have the most exciting game in the world, but you won't want to play it if you have to listen to crap music the whole way through. For the record, I typed crap, not the filter. Ocarina of Time took the old songs, reworked them a little, and orchestrated them. How many of you have downloaded the soundtrack just to listen to your favourite Zelda song? Point proven.

The dungeons. All of them were great. Even the ones that you hate, like the Water Temple. Everyone hates the Water Temple. All those changing water levels and the likes. None were too hard to beat, and all of them are remembered fondly. Even the Water Temple. Damn Water Temple...

The sidequests. This is where Zelda OoT stood out from all other games. It had sidequests that were major enough for the player to consume large amounts of time completing them. This took away the linear feel of all previous games (SNES, etc.). It gave the player control over how the game proceeded, and took away previous Zelda games largely linear feel. And they gave great rewards. See Goron Sword.
Hey, sup?
