My NOAC may just be retarded but...

Post by kylechu »

I recently acquired a black superjoy III (praise value village) and fired it on up. Everything worked perfectly, and for once in an noac THE LEFT BUTTON THINGY ACTUALLY WORKS ALL THE TIME!!! AND THE BUTTONS ARENT MUSHY!!! Then I got to super mario bros. The blue background in the first level (and all the other levels that share the background) is grey! The music and graphics are also going faster then usual, about 1.2x i think just by eyeballing it. The same thing happened to me when I ... erm ... lets just say i got overly aggressive while overclocking my nes . How can I fix it? Can it be fixed? Why am I asking you these questions? Because you are all awesome, and probably smarter then me. So please help. Thanks.

either a short around the crystal. Or you need another crystal.

nope, just smb, and it is present in all of the versions. (like super mario bros, and super mario bros with one pixel under mario's nose) My buddy has one that looks exactly the same with the same menu, appearence, and games, but it doesen't have the same problem. What is the crystal and how would I replace it?

A crystal controls the clock speed on the NOAC, but that doesn't seem to be the problem. Might just be a screw-up on Power Joy's end.

that would really suck because the buttons all work really well. Ah well, if there's no fix, then oh well. If there is though, please post it.

crap quality control probably messed up the ppu so one of the mappers doesnt display correctly. There isnt anything you can do besides wire up a cart slot and hope the noac is ok and its just the rom
