Give me a break! Yesterday it was 20 minutes... Today it's an hour?!? Come tomorrow you'll be saying they shouldn't have even bothered making it at all.

I thought it should've been longer..
Well, could've removed the teenage hackers bit entirely, and maybe used that time to develop the Transformers personalities, so they don't look like mind-less mecha's. The average person probably now views them as simple war machines, instead of complex sentient beings.

right, because the average person paying $10 for a transformers movie just missed the 20 or so years of cartoons and comic books because they live in a cave out in the mountainous wilderness of washington.

The movie was aimed at nerds more than kids, we are the 'average' target.

I imagine people liked Superman Returns, because even though it lacked any and all action, there were what, like 60 or 70 years prior to make up for it?

There are two reasons I'm going to see this movie:

(a) I LOVE Transformers. No wait... I <3 Transformers.

and

(b) It has that guy from Even Stevens in it! I have to see if this dude can pull off an action movie. Does knowing what Even Stevens is make me a total dork?

Jones, it's one of those where the more I think about it the less I liked it. Entire subplots were useless (blonde computer hacker, eating donuts, Shia escaping and getting caught again by the Feds, the whole opening scene in the Mideast) and the Decepticons show up far, far too late.

It's not like they put in a bunch of human stuff to save money because there's plenty of robot action. More like instead of making a really tight 1 hour 45 minute movie they padded a bunch of side characters in and got it up to 2 20. Or what about Shai getting arrested (for whatever reason), questioned by the police, and released? Again - useless.

Think back to the cool films of our youth - they never went above 2 hours. Usually 1 hour 45. I doubt even ET was as long as Transformers. Spielberg's input into this was must have been to add his typical-of-late extra 20 minutes, but in the middle of the movie instead of the end.

Not at all, I liked that show, it was a ton better than the crap Disney Channel has on now.

I want to see Transformers, when I first saw the preview I was like "holy crap, that show looks good". And then it said it was Transformers, and it surprised me that the movie actually looked cool, not like it was made for 6 year olds.

Not to split hairs, but a runtime of 1:45 is a far cry from 1:20.

The hacker stuff could have been either reworked or eliminated entirely. I thought the opening Mideast scene worked just fine. Not sure why you think it was unnecessary, but that's cool. I thought it setup the Decepticons scheme quite nicely.

Also, the Decepticons were around throughout the movie. It's just that they weren't in full force with Megatron and Starscream until the last half hour or so. And to me that didn't really matter. I thought the movie did a good job of setting everything up and not overwhelming us all at once. Keep in mind not everyone going to this movie knows a Grimlock from a Devastator. It was more important to develop the Autobots as the good guys than to setup the Decepticons as the bad guys. To someone who doesn't know anything about this stuff it would be more important to setup where everybody stands.

I think that for the most part fans of Transformers in general will be pleased with what they see on the screen. And compared to most movies these days 2:20 is a short film, which is sad but true. I agree it could have been shaved down closer to 2 hours, but I'm willing to settle for what we were given. It could have been a trainwreck, but instead wound up being solid popcorn entertainment.

I agree that it is a film with flaws, but it wasn't that bad. At least they didn't neuter John McClane like another film I could mention.

That movie to me is what starwars was when it came out. That movie was so awesome!!! I can't even describe it right now.

Not to get off topic, but I thought Die Hard 4 was pretty good. Yeah, he could only drop the F-bomb once, but he made good use of it. And while it was definitely over the top, it was over the top in a good, summer-blockbuster kind of way.

ya die hard 4 was pretty good i can decide which on is better but did anyone notice how all the cars on the good side were GM and the cars on the other side were like ford and stuff. Even the towtruck the girl uses to tow around bumblebee is GM thats y they have transformers in the gm comercials i suppose.
