Bad xbox video. Need help!!!

Bad xbox video. Need help!!!
My Xbox has the weird habit of giving me perfect crystal clear video feedback when it's hooked up with my small tube tv that's fairly new, but when I hook it up to a bigger and older (about ~7 years) it gives me vary bad color rendering. It is hooked up through a VCR, however, I've tried it on about 3 different tv/vcr combinations and still get the same bright/no color screen. I really want to fix the darn thing, are there any ideas?
