Whats so great about Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Well I have this game for my n64 and I really like it, but in a lot of top game lists its in the top 10 and I was wondering why it is there. Some lists say it's because it set the bar for 3d but that doesn't make it the best game ever. Discuss.

Well one of the big things it did for gaming is the Z targeting system which revolutionized the way you fought in 3D video games. Another thing it did was bring whole orchestras of music for the gamer to enjoy and it also made music a main factor like playing the Ocarina to do various tasks. Another thing it did was bring tons of depth and emotion to video games making the player very immersed in this world the Hero Of Time Link lived and flourished in. I could say a lot more about this game but those facts are basically why its on the top of lists a lot of the time because it is and was so revolutionary to the gaming world.

Yeah it was revolutionary, but I wouldn't put it on a top ten games list as No. 1 simply because of that. NiGHTS on the Saturn was called the most revolutionary 32 bit game of all time by EGM, but nobody knows about it so you might not even see it on a top 100 list. I don't like Zelda games at all, so I could just be biased. But I don't think it's the hight of gaming.

A lot of the reason people love OoT is because it was the first great 3-D adventurer. It was a 3-D game done very well, and was the first good 3-D game to be very epic. I still like Majora's Mask more than OoT, and say it is the better game. Honestly if it came out first, people would be saying MM>OoT.

Meh, it was average. I really haven't liked any Zelda game since A Link to the Past. The only Nintendo character I really see that benefits from the 3D jump is Mario, as SM64 was not only a great game, but it was able to retain the charm and feel of the original 2D ones. That's just me though, I'm a total retro junkie.

Personally, I found this game very "twee". I tried to get into it, but only managed to play it for a matter of minutes. I wanted to get into this one, couldn't. I also got totally stuck early on in the game, which also stopped me playing.
I did love playing WindWaker on the GameCube however; played that all the way through!

ooooooohhhhhhh *gasp* This is an insult. Naah I'm just being fanboyish, but seriously the game is so highly rated because it is a long, enjoyable, memorable adventure. It is very well done with a great storyline and it made gaming better for the future. Awesome music and sounds, Z-targeting and just... man if you play through the whole game you gotta love it.
its an over all good game. as far as the best is concerned...well...i guess that's all up to personal preferance. i'd say that the reason OoT is better than MM is simply the story. it's much more epic, and easier to get into and (i think) it stays closer to the traditional Zelda stories (you know, actually having Zelda in it and all). but yeah, its a great game (one of my favorites), but not everybody's into that sort of thing.
