SDK's and DEV's (and 64DD, and iQUE)

Post by HotDog-Cart »

Hey, I have a few questions about Software Development Kits, and Development kits.

After getting the Nintendo Revolution SDK on to my laptop, I've been interested in this areant boot a of gaming developement.

I know theres programs that are alternatives to SDK's for game systems such as Wii, Gamecube, Dreamcast but nothings like having the real thing.

The Revolution SDK I have is useless, as I dont have a Revolution Dev Kit. (The devkit allows me to actually boot and create a game for the wii. A normal wii wont work, as it doesnt have a connector that allows me to attach it to a computer, and it cant boot unregistered code.)

Does anyone have any more info on Dev Kits, and SDKs for:

Dreamcast
Nintendo Gamecube
Nintendo 64
Wii/Revolution
Nintendo 64 Dynamic Drive
Nintendo iQUE Player

Also, does anyone know where I could buy a DEV kit, without having a license with a certain company? (Also, does anyone know where I could get an iQUE and a Dynamic Drive?)

(www.snsys.com rocks, but to order or evaluate their product(s) you have to have a license with Nintendo and such.)

Thanks.

Yes, I know about them. They are all 100% illegal and you should be OK talking about them as long as you don't tell where to find them.

You will be able to find most of those SDKs if you spend lots of time looking around. It took me the better part of a year to find someone willing to share their N64 devkit.

Buying devkits? Check eBay, or Yahoo! Japan. Be prepared to spend hundreds to thousands of dollars, the only reason you'll see something for sale is because it was illegally taken from the office and reported as lost to the game company.

I haven't seen any dev stuff for the Ique at all, I'd guess it's just a superset of the N64 kit. Probably all chinese though.

Im pretty sure that Nintendo just announced a program for you to create games on your wii.

Im not sure if they announced it for the future, or if its already out or what the deal is... but thats what I heard. do some googling.

Thats AiLive AKA Livemove. You need to have a Nintendo License to use it.

Marshall, do you still have your devkit?
