Old Homemade Internet Browser I found

I was board and I desided to search for a Homemade Internet browser. I found one and it's been around since 1998. It has no name but it still works. God I love old stuff. And it's about a 1 mb and a half. So not much space used. But this browser has only the basics. It can't even save favorites websites. And it slightly buggy. Sadly yeah, Web Browsers are kinda easy in VB.... But they suck compared to Firefox so I don't bother.

Yeah, most Visual Basic browsers are basically just IE with a custom interface.

Yeah, I've made a few browsers in VB as well. Their so easy, because the main object is based on IE. It's still better then using IE for real though, because you don't have all of the unneeded crap. Just the basics for a web browser. It's still fun to make them though.

Java has a built-in HTML viewer class too, JEditorPane. You just add a textfield and some buttons and you have a web browser. Making a browser isn't too hard these days, unless you mean making the HTML parser from scratch. That'd take some 1337 sk1llz I guess

I definitely wouldn't want to code all the display handling for html/css/xml/xsl conversion
I've coded simple webservers before though, at least http is pretty simple

The code was written using the instructions at http://www.microsoft.com/ie/buildbrow.htm with some additional code taken from David I. Schneider's An Introduction to Programming Using Visual Basic 5.0 (Prentice Hall, 1988). Code creation and compilation were done using Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 Enterprise Edition.

DISCLAIMER: I threw this project together in maybe three hours, including the time required to compile and package the installer (using Microsoft's Setup Wizard). Needless to say, it has not been extensively tested, and I can't guarantee results. I have installed the browser on machines running Internet Explorer 4.01 under Windows 95 and 98. It should also work with IE 3.0, but I haven't tried it because I didn't have a properly set up machine handy.

I just tried it on my computer running Windows 7 and it works fine.

Something to try would be the Spry Mosaic browser. It's still available for download. It worked on xp, but I don't have a 32 bit OS installed on any of the computers that I use (at home) any more, and at school, they still have xp. It didn't handle a lot of new stuff, but other than that, it worked well.
