what is a good waiting period?

I recently won this auction linky

I sent the payment on the day I won (immediately after mind you) as well as sent a message to his eBay account and his Email

He hasn't "received payment" from PayPal, but how long should I wait before notifying paypal?

If you log into PayPal and check the status of the payment, does it say 'Uncleared' or 'Completed'? If it's still uncleared, then hasn't gotten his $ yet and obviously owes you nothing until it does (though a friendly email from the seller is usually nice). IME it typilcally takes 4-5 days for payments to clear through PP, unless you have a credit card listed as primary.

If the payment is completed according to PP, I would give him until maybe mid-end of this week and just shoot him an email asking if he's shipped it yet.

Dude. Go into your paypal. On the main login page, if it says payment uncleared. Its not cleared.

Most likely, your payment hasnt cleared yet. Takes 9-15 days.

the reason I asked was that when I do business here, it usually takes a day for the seller tom receive their payment

also, the status of the payment says completed...
