Which DS game should I buy?

Post by blackbox_dev »

I want to buy the DS browser, and one of the following games, but I can't really decide. Which ones have you played and why would you recomend it?

- Metroid Prime Hunters

or...

- Pokemon Diamond/Pearl

Any tips?

I've only played the demo for Hunters, but I thinks it would be better than Pokemon (especially if you have one of the GBA pokemon games, they're all similar). Hunters is in a class of its own compared to other DS games, as long as you have access to a wireless connection.

Scrap the DS browser, it's not worth it, really. I've seen what it's like in use on a video. Very slow. Glitches a bit. Crashes.

And get Diamond AND Pearl.
MP-H is a pretty good FPS, though a bit hard at points, and kinda short. So only get it if you love FPS's. Otherwise, not really worth it.
Or you could get a Supercard and a MicroSD card, like Timmeh87 suggested

I have Metroid Prime: Hunters, and I didn't like it too much. Compared to the other Metroids, it is really linear and there aren't any great items (just different weapons). The game is just "fight a mini-boss, fight a boss, and escape to your ship", recycled eight times. There are only two bosses (aside from the final one), but they use them over and over again, so you fight each of them four times.

Multiplayer is the strongpoint of the game: you can play online against other people, or by yourself against bots. But it, too, can get boring after a while.

Unless you want to play online matches until you're blue in the face (or until your hand starts to cramp up), I'd say stick with Pokemon.

More like Multiplayer was the strongpoint, currently it is full of glitchers and hackers. You cant go one game without someone turning invisible and constantly killing everyone with an Omega Cannon. And just as Jay stated, the single player is repetetive and tedious with each boss being basically a slight variation of the previous. Personally, Pokemon is the way to go, even if you've already caught em all oh...about 100 times.

That sucks, Hunters seemed like it was going to be unto the DS like Halo was to the Xbox.

I'd agree with you, but he wants a browser. Unless super slow (slower than Opera DS!) text browsing is for you. (DSOrganize's web browser=slow as hell)

R4DS does pwn all though.

I really only want the browser to post here from my bedroom.
Still, for only $40 it definitely seems worth it.

I still can't decide over the two games though. For one, I love FPS games. Their my favorite. But I've also never played a Pokemon game on the GBA. Kinda stuck here. :|

The R4 looks really cool, but if I'm paying that kind of money I want it to be compatible with homebrew as well. From reading reviews, it kind of fails in that area.
