Well I am going to New York over the summer and was wondering what are some fun places to go. I am already planing on going to the Nintendo Store.

I believe that's from New York, New York the song. if you want places to see, i would say that you should go to Times Square in General. The Toys r us store is nice, even for adults (just an idea). What do you want to see, tourist attractions, or video game related stuff?. PM me if you want.

toysrus is a great place to go, its HUGE. FAO shwartz is amazing if you go, but unless your loaded you wont be able to buy anything (but its awsome to go to). Time square is nice,

The Apple store is awesome. Also if your a fan of classic rock like I am, go to Strawberry Fields in Central Park, which was set up by John Lennon's wife, Yoko Ono.

FAO Schwartz (Duncan's Toy Chest in Home Alone 2) was awesome. 3 of us bought Light sabers there and dueled. I also bought a Phaser from Star trek.

Time Square is essential.

I was like 4 blocks from the high rise that was Haunted in Ghostbusters 1 when i went on my Senior Trip.

I had a nerdgasm.

If I'm not mistaken, FAO schwartz recently changed hands. NYC is a nice place, just avoid the people who want to shine your shoes

Yes, and never buy consoles off the street, you'll regret it. Check out a lot of Manhattan, especially the places already said. If you're in the mood for some upclassyness, go to SoHo.

If you were anywhere near I was when I went their, there will be like expensive pawn shops every block. Well its sorta like a pawn shop. Think of it as a pawn shop for rich people. =]

You should definitely hit up a Lenny's (http://www.lennysnyc.com) for lunch one day and a Tony DiNapoli's (http://www.tonysnyc.com) for dinner one night. Also, a gyro from any of the guys on the street corners with huge metal carts is generally a winning move, just be weary of the hot sauce. Aside from some good places to eat, I don't particularly know much about what can be done in New York as far as tourism goes; I tend not to pay much attention to the city outside of various underground happenings. Greenwich Villiage used to be cool, but it's pretty much sucked since the arrival of the dreaded "hipster" (read: emo); now it's not good for much of anything unless you're hunting down vinyl records or pot.

If you visit Chinatown, note that nothing "authentic" is actually authentic. Additionally, be aware of your wallet and such, and never get sucked into crowds that suddenly form. What happens is that someone peddling knock-off Coach and Louis Vuitton bags will attract a very sudden crowd, and while people are stuck in the crowd and trying to fight their way in/out/through, these guys will come around and pick the pockets and pocketbooks of the people who're stuck.

The Nintendo Store is pretty sweet, just keep in mind that there's half a dozen camera crews in there at any given time, soliciting (SEE: harassing, giving sh*t for refusing) interviews from the patrons. Also, if you're thinking of going to the World Trade Center site to see what's going on there, save yourself the trouble, as they haven't built anything at all there because George Pataki is a cronyistic dirtbag; only two holes in the ground exist at the present moment.

Times Square is generally an excessively congested sh*thole. Us New Yorkers like to think that it was a good thing when Guiliani forced the porno shops and theaters out of Times Square in exchange for the flagship stores of various corporations, but in reality, we had just traded one hell for another.

Central Park is generally very nice, and The Great Lawn is a pretty good place to set up a picnic, or just hang out and smoke/drink/play frisbee/whatever. If you play basketball, you can visit pretty much any basketball court in the city and enjoy being blown out by the locals. If you're looking to watch some good basketball, a court called "The Cage" on West 4th Street always has a very physical, very aggressive, and very good pickup game going on. If you get the opportunity to play in The Cage, I'd advise against it; the ballers there usually come from the Bronx and probably take poorly to tourists.

As far as general attractions go, The Empire State Building has very long lines and very high prices, but is worth it if you've never looked across a city from half a mile up. Note that the Statue of Liberty's been closed since Nine Eleven, although the monument/museum that it sits on is open.

If you want to get out of Manhattan though and see another park, go to Flushing Meadows Corona Park...that's where they had the World Fair. Very nice place, and you might just see me

I prefer Forest Park. Flushing Meadows has virtually no shade, whereas Forest Park has trees everywhere, and it's also sans that sulfer smell that comes off the water by Flushing Meadows.
